NBD Squier Affinity Precision P/J

Working at the House of Guitars has it's pitfalls, this Squier Affinity Precision followed me home yesterday. It was giving off such a strong 1968 Entwistle vibe that I had to try it. Man am I impressed Squier has really upped thier game. The bass is beautiful, fit and finish are excellent the oly white is stunning with the maple neck. The neck is flat sawn maple, straight as a arrow I have the action set super low not a buzz or dead note anywhere. Squier is really paying attention to the little details, fret tangs are under cut (less prone to fret sprout) and very well dressed. The headstock is finished gloss while the neck finish lightly in satin. Edges of the fingerboard are rolled making for a great feeling and playing neck. Pickups and controls are far better than I expected, I was going to at the very least change the P pickup but for now I am going to leave it stock. Body is poplar, definitely a lighter and more resonant wood tha basswood, another nice detail is the pickguard is three ply b/w/b. Squier really paid attention to the little details on the new Affinity series and they all add up to a excellent affordable bass. Video demo to follow!

I was in a band not too long ago where the drummer had a Squier guitar and a bass he bought for himself, to record with. I set them up for him and surprised him by playing the bass during rehearsal (instead of my Parts Build P/J with a set of Duncans that I normally use). It was close enough for the others not to notice until I pointed it out (they were busy reading charts).

After a 17 year hiatus, I bought the Squier Affinity pack in 2020 to get back into playing again.

It was a lovely bass.Squiers are not the dogs they used to be.

Awesome! Those Squier Affinity P/Js are really great. I bought just a loaded Affinity P/J body to use for a project and slapped a Squier VM Jazz neck (the one with the ebonal fretboard and no inlays) that I put some decal block inlays on and I’d play it anywhere. I had intended to do a pickup swap but the stock pickups sound great. These are great little basses for not a lot of $. I highly recommend them.
