NBD: Time Machine Bass

I set up a build thread for this 3 or 4 years ago and hardly anyone is following it anymore so I figured I could do one more thread with pictures of the finished instrument. We plan to sell it in a charity auction and donate the proceeds to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation.

Thanks for your kind words. Regarding the impractical comment, I assume you mean because it has a slab body without a tummy cut or forearm contour (kidding)? Yes, the wires and the fan on the back make it a little uncomfortable, but we couldn't figure out a way to make it as crazy/cool as we wanted and also comfortable/practical. Not the best bass to use for everyday.

I'm just thinking I would love to play it out but would be concerned about wires getting caught in the belt!

A band that used to playa round these parts, We Are The Physics, this would be perfect for them

It's a very cool bass, but I heard it only plays Huey Lewis songs or the occasional Chuck Berry song. (which would work well for me- i only know Huey Lewis songs)

Just chiming in to say that I love that you build creative instruments for the pleasure of it, then give them away to raise money for charity. More people should do that.

Sorry for your loss. My dad has dementia and my mother in law is likely to get Parkinson’s. Seems to be headed that direction and it has been strong in her family history.

Great cause and great fit for this bass.

Thanks for affirming the wiring on the back. It’s not practical or comfortable as some have pointed out, but it’s part of the mad scientist look and is similar to the Delorean. As a practical matter it wouldn’t fit inside the body.
