A Warwick at Long & McQuade.... now I've seen everything!

They carried them for quite a while...and seemed to have just about every model. I even remember a Vampyre (F# to A) here in l'il ol' Halifax.

I really dig my J/J Warwick. But that looks killer! I love that finish and I'm sure the J/MM sounds thunderous. Nice find!

I use my Wick for solo bass stuff almost exclusively these days. But when I played it in a band it held its own just fine. I run light gauge strings for low action and tapping:

Nice. Now that you mention it I do remember seeing a few Warwick Rockbass models here in Winnipeg, but I didn't really pay them any attention.

I recently got a NOS German Corvette and I love the bass. Only trouble for me is that the neck width at the nut is so narrow (jazz width) and I've been playing P's and Rics exclusively for a while now. I'm looking for a WW with a wide nut, but they seem really rare used, to the point where it would require a custom order. In any case - congrats!

I believe it is a Swamp ash body, ovagkol neck, bubinga fret board.

Well I had a chance to play this bad boy last night for a few hours with the band. It has growl for days. It is also much more dynamic than the old P bass. I'm really really impressed!

So I went down to my local shop to look at a new bass. I've been playing a P with flats for the better part of 2 years but the band is stretching out a bit and I need something a little more versatile and a bit more aggressive.

The local long and mcquade has a pathetic selection of bass gear. I've never seen anything other than Squire, Fender, Ibanez and Epiphone. On top of that, I don't really care for active electronics so I know my options will be slim.

I go in and play a short scale Squire Jag, MIM Fender jazz, American Standard Jazz and even a used Ibanez SR1200. I have large hands and found all of the necks extremely uncomfortable. I want something with some meat on it! Feeling a little defeated I ask if they have anything
else in the back. To my shock, they do. The guy goes to the back and comes out with a used Warwick Corvette Taranis. I play it for 20 mins. It sounds beautiful. It has a huge chunky neck hat feels great in the hand. Sold!

I've got band practice tonight so I'll get to put it through the paces right away!

That is a sweet bass! Very versatile setup with the MM and J Pickups with the big single pole pieces.

Great looking bass! I remember when the Taranis came out. The 4 strings came from the factory set up BEAD.

I played a 5 string numerous times in one of our local shops and always wish I had bought it. I liked the control set up and that it was passive. Great sounding bass.
