hmmm.. same bass I returned to GC last week. Was on the GC used bass website for well over 6 mos at a couple of different stores before I bought it, surprised nobody saw it. Hope you enjoy it.

Holy cow, small world! o_O

If that's the case, then I literally must have purchased it within a day or two at most of it going back up for sale on the GC website. I ordered it on Sunday, July 14th.

Congrats to the OP! I don't know the current or last BB series, but I'm never selling my BB2000 fretted and fretless basses, even though I always use 5-string when playing out. I also have a BB5000 - Taiwanese production with the fussy 19mm Gotoh bridge that also showed up on the Fender Roscoe Beck basses. It needs some electronics work and weighs a ton, but has a marvelous sound, and I'm thinking about subbing in different pickups (Nordstrand) and running it passive. Easily as fine as the 5000s produced in Japan.

I'm also a huge fan of the original TRB line.

Yamaha knows how to bring it, at all price points. A really great company.

Nice find! It's a shame they abandoned the maple fretboard and that line of BB's altogether. There used to be claims about a Glen Hughes signature BB too, it looked cool! But apparently abandoned. James Lomenzo has several custom Yamahas including a really nice silverburst BB with a maple fretboard!

necks are interchangeable so a 1024 neck may have ended up on a 2024 body. but a 2024 neck should say japan and have the A.R.E. stamp on the headstock. tuners are slightly
different as well.
bodies can be differentiated by the output jack.
2024 has an output jack plate.

The Indonesian models have their "Crafted in..." printed just behind the string ferrules on the back-side of the bass body.

Personally, I was not impressed with the new BB pickups - except that they are now standard shapes, so you can put pretty much anything you want in them.

For stock, I prefer the ones on the BB1XXX/2xxx basses, which share the same pickups and electronics, minus the output jack.

I did hear that about the more standard pickup sizes in the current series, and being lighter in overall weight. And that they also aim for a slightly brighter tone than the previous X series.

I'm sure they're very good sounding, but l like the slightly warmer, vintage tone of the X series right where it is. So for me and my preference, the buck stops here at the X series for both aesthetics and tone.
