Only four strings - harrumph. TRASH - dump it, totally not worth it. In fact, I do bass recycling, and would gladly recycle it for you (watch for PM with my FedEx account number and address....)
Let's make up fictitious scenarios to make it worse? This is a Squier series Fender and the buyer got a helluva deal but we are not talking about ripping someone off that's selling a vintage 60's Fender for $50. In this day and age anyone can find the value of something and the seller obviously sells stuff on ebay. Congrats to the OP.

The old Squier Series Fenders are actually pretty nice basses. And someone already did you a favor by converting that particular model from active to passive with upgraded pickups. The pick guard is just a nice bonus

Looks like it was an active bass once, I asked the seller but she didn’t know and was just getting rid of stuff that she couldn’t sell on eBay. So I plugged in the bass when I got home and it plays fine. No scratchy pots no funny business that I heard. Not a fan of the pickups though I’m sure it needs a setup but I’m definitely looking into getting better pickups for it. After all, it did only cost me $15
As far as looking into the year of the bass and all, it seems to be a 1993 Squier Fender Bass. Anyone care to extend some knowledge on this bass so I know what I’m working with for later upgrades?
There's literally a disabled old lady who lives across the street from me with her service dog. When the idiot FedEx guy leaves her dog food on the porch, I move it to the garage for her. If someday she comes out with her dad's '58 P and says she wants it to go to a bass player, I would definitely tell her it's hugely valuable and that she should contact Wildwood.
On the other hand, when I was trolling pawn shops and came across a '91 MIA strat in Very Good condition priced at $450, I told them it was too much and walked out with it in the original case for $385. Boo-hoo, pawn shop can't tell an MIA from a MIM.

That is very tempting lol but it's also ethical to tell the old lady how much the item is worth.

On a side note, I think I just identified the mystery PJ body I stripped a while back. That battery box rout is identical to mine.
edit: Hmm. Now that I think about it I gave 20 bucks for that body and I had to strip it and dig the junk out of the J rout and the battery box that somebody filled them with.

$500 is a huge amount though. I'd go asking around but they'll need to tell me how much exactly they lost to have the money back.
I'd say: I found some money on the floor. I don't know who it belongs to but I'd like to return it to the seller if they tell me exactly how much they lost in a single try. Because if I lose that much money, I'm going to know exactly how much I lost.
Bidding is already at $30. And so far, he hasn't bit on that. ;-)
