Just picked up this G&L SB2 Tribute. I was skeptical about the neck at first because I prefer P bass necks but this thing is MADE for me! Absolutely love the song and feel. I really don't have any qualms about this bass yet and people tend to complain mainly about the lack of a tone control but 2 knobs is my max before I get irritated so honestly I prefer it this way.
Neither had I until I found this small music shop that happened to be a G&L dealer. The owner gave me a great price and I had to take it!
I figured that 2 is probably ideal if you have two pickups and more than enough if you have one, unless you play something other than rock lol
Congrats nice bass this and tax season are my favorite times of the year so many new bass days and I love me some bass pictures.
I had an American SB2. It was as good as any Fender I ever played. I would love to have it back. Money issues caused its sale about 8 years ago. Another will be my next bass. I just don't know how the tribute compares to the American in wood, tone, electronics, etc. Post back after you've played it a while and tell us what you think. And, if you decide it isn't for you, I will gladly take it off your hands and provide you a Squier VM so you are not without axe.
The SB-2 does not have any tone knob! Just two volume knobs...I would have to mod a tone control on that puppy.
Funny thing! My Squier VM is now my backup bass! I've been playing it all day and I cannot find a single flaw, it seems to be near perfect.
