NCAA Basketball - 2011

Yes - Villanova in '85 - the Big East was stacked that year as well - It was an all Big East Final and St Johns went to the Final 4 and Boston College went to the Sweet 16. Villanova was an 8 seed and unranked

NC State was 8-6 in '83 and won out of the 6 seed.

UConn can win this thing - Kemba Walker is a big time talent.
Thanks, Dan. I believe they can win it, but they'll have to be more consistent than they have been.

You are welcome.

How consistent is consistent enough, Greg?
UConn has won their last 6 single-elimination games including a run through a stacked conference tournament.

They have no bad losses all season unless you count a loss to an 11-seeded Marquette in OT that was playing to get off the bubble or 5-seeded West Virgina in Morgantown a bad loss.

With Belmont and Tennessee's losses, I'm shooting somewhere between .750 and .800.

Not bad considering my only team that is out of the 16 so far is Michigan State. (I think)

I'm going to take a look at the blind bracket I posted in the TB ESPN group.

Good points, Dan. At the same time, they went through a brutal 4-7 stretch prior to the current streak. And while there's no shame in losing at St. John's, they got completely blown out. Like I said, they have the talent to win it all. But they have to bring it every game.

The Vols are out???? YAY!!!!

Mike, they lost by 30 points to an 8th-seeded Michigan. Pearl may very well be done.

What a stunning fall from grace--a few years ago, I thought he'd be giving the Gators fits for a decade or more. And I had to admit I actually liked him, too. Now he's dirty and underachieving.

I know it is called off-topic but lets not get too far off topic.

I watched the first half of Kansas-Boston University which ended 33-29 and it was as close as the score indicates - if you have Kansas, you should be worried. Kansas finally got it into gear in the 2nd half, but if they take that long to get their stuff together against the Illinois-UNLV winner, they will be in deep doo-doo.

My Heels were pretty much in control but LIU is a good team and has the ability to score points in bunches. They will be back next year and will have a higher seed.

Marquette just won - so I have my second underdog come through Florida State is my other.

THE Ohio State University looked very strong.

:(

We are not underdogs. We are perennial giants in the basketball world.

But no seriously, FSU's defense has to step up if they want to get any further. Singleton is back so that should help, but we need nights like tonight where we get 10 blocks if we want to stay alive considering our offense is pretty average.
