Well shoot, Dan, looks like I'm not going to get a chance to do your pool before the games start.
However, if anyone has an argument against UF being a 2 seed that has actual substance to it, I'm still willing to entertain it.

Syracuse beat better teams than Florida while boasting the same record, and BYU won more games outright.
Florida's biggest claim to fame is winning the SEC tournament during a down year.
Like I said before, I couldn't see UF as lower than a 3 seed, and I feel many of the 2-4 seeds are placed in the position they are solely because of the committee's preferences and not specifically because of their individual merits.
At any rate, it can't be changed now.

As a George Mason alum, I was pretty shocked that 3 CAA teams made the tourney. VCU looked pretty impressive last night.
Well, that's all pretty subjective. No doubt, the Big East is stronger than the SEC overall--no argument from me. But on at least one objective measure, UF actually played significantly better teams over the course of the entire season than Syracuse, and its RPI is higher. BYU, OTOH, does have a case despite a weaker schedule.

And again, the Gators finished stronger (10-2) than almost anyone in the top echelons. The committee has always looked favorably upon that.

The lowest we go is a #3 seed UConn ( would make the Huskies a C#?), I'm in there with my TarHeels, a 2 seed and there is support for another 2 seed in Notre Dame. The only 1 seed besides the Dookies to get any love was Pitt - no Ohio State, no Kansas.
I'm 2 for 2 and ahead in all the other games
- I don't think I ever swept the first day, so something very wack is probably going to happen in one of the games in progress or in one of tonight's games.

As a caveat, I was arguing the case for the Gators' seeding, Dan. Historically, their record of following through is spotty--it's pretty much either they go all the way (3 title game appearances and 2 titles over the past decade) or pull a first-weekend exit.

I guess I need to fess up my true colors: I am a Dookie (Engineering class of '82). I even met my wife in line for a Duke - UNC game (in '79, before coach K!).... So yes, I have them going all the way. It all depends on the outside shot, though. One off game from 3-point land and they're done.

That's cool. I was at UNC for grad school in '83-84 - the year after they won when a skinny freshman named Jordan cooly sunk a baseline jumper - whatever happened to that kid?
Live or die by the 3 does seem to be the motto on the Blue Devils this year.
Yes - Villanova in '85 - the Big East was stacked that year as well - It was an all Big East Final and St Johns went to the Final 4 and Boston College went to the Sweet 16. Villanova was an 8 seed and unranked
NC State was 8-6 in '83 and won out of the 6 seed.
UConn can win this thing - Kemba Walker is a big time talent.
