Just this week, Sarkisian went on the local sports radio station in Seattle to say he only talked to USC, but did not interview. A few hours later, Haden was announcing him as the new head coach.

But wait.......if Saban does go to Texas, what will happen to Muschamp? I had Willie all packaged up with a bowtie ready to deliver back to the Longhorns.

Needless to say, I would never be surprised at Saban leaving.;)

Muschamp can be Saban's DC! Please, gods of college football, let this happen.:D

This Saban story is curious to me, so I did some digging and found more info on the WPMI website. The sources of the info are fansided.com and the Football Brainiacs. I haven't heard of either of those websites myself, so I don't know how reliable they are.

I wonder if Eublet is yanking our chain to stir up some conversation. :D

Honestly, no! I just found it and passed it along. I don't know how much you guys see away from this state, but he's been adamant he's not going anywhere and will retire from here. The last couple of weeks, even his wife has been in the news saying that this is where they will end their career. So I'd be highly shocked if he left. I don't think he's a weasel like most non-Bama fans. I really think he's got a lot of integrity in what he does/says. The evidence is heavily on that side.

LSU fans say he lied, but honestly I never saw any of that in the way he left LSU. The Miami departure was a bit painful, but I don't think he was lying when he said he wasn't going to be the coach. I think he really was focussed on Miami. He just didn't use the right kind of coach speak to make the reporters quit asking him nonstop about his plans in the middle of the playoffs.

Now though, for him to leave after he's been saying that he's ending his career here, it would definitely be something different.

That said, I'm hoping he quits/leaves before Kirby Smart does. I really want Kirby to be our next coach, and I'm afraid Saban is going to hang around too long and we'll lose him. If Saban stays another 3+ years, then okay. But if he's going to leave, he better leave soon.

Oh, and the other funny thing is that Texas is definitely interested in Gus Malzahn. As always, I know more about Auburn inner stuff than I do Bama. Jay Jacobs has even commented on this story as late as this afternoon.

So which coach is going to Texas? Bama's or Auburn's? My guess is neither.

Ha! Funny, the coaches on each side of UF/FSU always have great familiarity with each other, of course--but they pretty much never cross from one to the other. I'm hard-pressed to come up with an example.

He's at $5.6m/year right now. While Alabama doesn't bring in quite the same amount of total revenue Texas does, our profits are on par with them. Basically Alabama could afford to match anything Texas could realistically pay him and then some if they wanted to. I don't think money would be why he'd leave.

It's moot anyway; the local station has now scrubbed the story from their website. I'm waiting for a follow up story saying they were hacked or the reporter was fired.

Yup...Texas has deep pockets but Bama has the financial setup to counter ANY offer that Saban could realistically receive. I'm sure there's also an astronomical buyout clause in his contract to prevent other schools from poaching him.

I'm delighted that WSU just rolled Mike Leach's contrct forward another 5 years, and one of the benefits is that action re-set his buyout penalty to its highest level. I want Leach to stay put, and I think he actually likes small town life in a big conference. (If you can stand to spend 10 years in godhelpus Lubbock, then the Palouse country of eastern Washington must seem like a garden spot by comparison.)

Here's the real kicker...Saban has no buyout. He can leave whenever he wants. I think that's part of the reason why he's contacted every time a big vacancy is coming up somewhere else because the hiring school won't have to cough up any buyout. It was widely reported down here that USC made a move on him the day before they hired Sarkisisan.

welllll....all's right with the world....go Auburn

once again the rest of the country can go and rotate...the SEC is back again for the CG.....nothing against urban, but the thought of a CG without the SEC being a part of it just doesn't seem right..

Everyone I know is jaw dropped with that win in Stillwater. My sister went to OK State so she was kind of very upset.

And holy expletive Michigan State.
