I may have got it right this time. Lucky 13. UW and WSU for the marbles in the north. This will be the one time this year I'm rooting 100% against the Cougs. And Pilgrim will be rooting 100% against the Dawgs. Nothing else matter in college football this week. It's just a fact, and I apologize to those whose teams are irrelevant for a week.

In irrelevancy, I hope Ohio State beats Michigan and that both Penn State and Wisconsin win. That would make the Big 10 champion somebody besides Ohio State or Michigan, and I think that's great. If Auburn beats Alabama, I'll be very surprised. Colorado Utah will be a good game. I expect Colorado to win that one.

No more Ivy League football. At least the Harvard juggernaut hit the rocks against Yale this year. It's been about a decade since that happened.

My Trojans are making me very happy lately. They look really solid, and they hit the field expecting to win.

They have their second big rivalry game in a row, but at least they're at home against ND. SC better be careful though; ND's not as bad as their record.

The better USC does, the better the Huskies look. So, for once, I'll be rooting for the evil empire from Southern California. My son graduated from USC's conservatory. Writing checks to the evil empire, no matter how well subsidized by financial aid and all that, was pretty daunting. Just saying. He's not too thrilled by Trojan football, though. The practice space building was probably the rattiest old building on the USC campus, but it was theirs. Except that the football program wanted the area for some kind of athletic facility, so the music program got booted off campus to the bottom of a building off campus and their building got torn down. It's the evil empire, I tell ya!

I'm hoping the Badgers beat Minnesota and Michigan beats Ohio State. If the Badgers beat Michigan in the Big Ten Championship game, I think they'll make the playoff even though they have 2 losses.

Other than that, I'm just looking forward to some good football on rivalry weekend.

*sigh* As @Gaolee mentioned, Ivy League football is over. Back to academics until next fall.

Rivalry week big time in the SEC and a few other conferences.
Time for Florida to make a statement and put the hammer down on FSU.

It's simply true: in the state of Washington, all games pale in comparison to the Apple Cup, so I share your polite apology to the irrelevant teams.

A win in that game can redeem a season which has been all bad. In the 2008 Apple Cup, two dreadful teams met and the Cougs beat the dawgz in double overtime, making them winless for the year! (Cougs had two wins, dawgz had none.) It was a night of grand celebration in Pullman!

And this year, for the first time in a long time, this is a big game that matters in the PAC-12 championship. There will be many eyes on this game, which is on Fox nationally at 12:30 PT, 3:30 ET. It has been sold out for two months, and the Cougs will be rockin' the house!

GO, COUGS!!

Good move on your part qualifying that statement.
That being said, I live in Washington and I don't care who wins.
I'll have a slight lean to WSU since I am surrounded by typically arrogant UW fans. It's fun to see the sophisticated UW fans when they lose to the farmers and simple types from 'that' part of the state.

There's a standing joke among Coug fans that people wearing Coug gear wear it because they're proud; people wearing husky hats and shirts went to community college and got the gear on sale at Wal-Mart. Fans of U. of Washington and U. of Colorado are notoriously fairweather...lose three games and attendance disappears.

Not Gaolee, of course. I'm sure he's actually gainfully employed. :woot:
