NCAA Week 9

So to all of those that keep arguing that the SEC is soooooo much better than the Big XII (I'm not saying one is better than the other).

Colorado (middle of the pack Big XII) beats WVU on a Thursday night, while Auburn ( a top 10 team at a certain point this year) does not.

Just wanted to point that out.

The SEC is better. What your pointing out doesn't point out anything. Auburn is absolutely horrible this year because of the decisions of a bonehead coach. It has nothing to do with the conference.

Last night's game was a battle of the sucks. It doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things except that one really sucky team beat up on an even worse one. Auburn will bounce back at some point.

Colorado would have .500 season at best in the SEC.

By the way, did everyone watching the Auburn game last night catch the comment Erin made about Tubberville turning off the sideline heaters? What the heck is wrong with this guy? He's all bundled up in that overcoat, and half his team who isn't playing is freezing their tails off on the sideline. Football uniforms aren't exactly warm when you aren't playing. I think his rash decisions are finally going to catch up with him sometime this season.

Sorry to all you Auburn fans. This has got to hurt. It was mildly amusing to watch you guys suffer a bit at first, but I feel sorry for you guys now. Any football team deserves better than what Tubs is giving them.

All this reminds me of an interview I heard once. Paul Finebaum was talking with Pat Dye and Gene Stallings last year just after Tubberville fired Borges and hired Franklin. Pat Dye was saying that the spread offense was the way of the future and that Auburn was trying to get on board with that. Stallings was vehemently opposed to that idealogy, and felt that the spread offense was much more volatile to problems and would be difficult to implement in most schools. He felt that an old-fashioned running game with some moderate passing was still the most effective method for winning games as long as the team had a solid defense to keep the opponent out of the game.

I think Tubberville should have talked to Gene before he fired Borges. You guys could be sitting undefeated right now.

The bolded part is pretty irrelevant--it says nothing about where Auburn ranks in the SEC. At this point, Colorado is 1-2 in the Big 12, while Auburn is 2-3 in the SEC. By the way, CO beat WVU in overtime at home (in the altitude, 2000 miles from home), while Auburn lost in Morgantown. Yes, it was a poor showing by Auburn, but let's put things in perspective.

Auburn was 33-5 under Borges. I understand that things slipped a little bit in his last year, but "slipping" a bit is no reason to go and fire someone who has brought you so much success. Most any team out there would be happy with a 33-5 record every 3 years, especially if one of them was an undefeated season.

It's poor coaching. I think Franklin is right. Tubs is a CEO-style coach that has little impact on his players and staff. Or like Finebaum says...he's lazy and would rather be hunting in Arkansas or dining out in Destin. For Auburn to have that much talent and be so impotent is just bad coaching.
