Very excited to receive this 1,8 cab from Mike Arnopol.

Specs:


17" tall, 10 1/2" wide, by 15(long side)/9 3/4(short side)" deep. Keep in mind that the depth decreases as you get to the top. Speaking of which--this cab makes a killin' floor wedge.

21 1/2# weight (add 1# for Ciare and 2# for powered)

Power handling 300 watts RMS continuous, 500 watt peak.

Sensitivity 92 db I would say that you should have at least 150 watts to adequately drive a single MAS18. Keep in mind that if you add a second MAS18 the sensitivity rises to 98db (4 ohms)

Impedance 8 ohms

Frequency response -3db at 35 hz to 14khz. (adding the Ciare supertweeter brings it past 20khz)

Standard
One Speakon connector on back, second on the side
Handle on the back that will not interfere with feet on back
4 feet on bottom, and 4 on the back.
Presence Boost Switch
Jack, handle, and feet locations can be changed at no additional cost.

I haven't heard the production version of this cab, but I did get to hear a late prototype (actually a couple of different ones) over the summer. The low-register extension and control was extraordinary (low-B response was revelatory) and it sounded good with recorded music, too. Indeed, the only knock I could find was a little bit of sibilance on (I think) a Chaka Khan track -- Mike was aware of it and said that was addressed in the crossover of the production version. (Pretty sure the cab I listened to had a tweeter in it.)

I liked it a lot on electric bass and think it would work really well for bowed-strings, monitoring, etc. I actually wonder how a pair would work for home stereo/home theater...

I am also very impressed with this cabinet. It blew me away when I tried it at Mike's this last February. We just had the Chicago GTG and Mike brought the pair for other bassists to try out and it received a lot of good comments from the community. I am not too sure about the sibilance that you mentioned on mine so it looks like it was addressed. I ordered a pair and will see how they work as stereo/home theater some time.

I have no doubt that it was addressed -- in fact, I think Mike played that specific track to see if I'd notice! Again, this was awhile ago and he mentioned wanting to tweak the crossover to address that specifically -- I think @DukeLeJeune might have been involved with the final version, but I'm not sure. The proto was already impressive as it was.

Enjoy the pair! I'm sure it's a formidable little stack. Might be a candidate for the MICRO-rigs of doom?.... thread.

Thanks! I am still waiting on my second one and I am hoping to see it sometime in the next few days. Once I receive the second one I will post to the Micro rigs of doom thread.

I was told the top was flat but it obviously is angled. Any problems with things sliding around/off the top?

I can install a couple of extra feet in the back of the top. If anyone who has an 18 wants more feet for this---let me know. Another simple solution that I used to do. Cut a piece of those waffle-rubber pads to keep area rugs from moving. Stuff it into the ports when transporting.
