NCD: Mesa Subway 212!

Just got my new Mesa Subway Series 212 cabinet! I can't count how many times I've posted on TalkBass not so subtly hinting to @agedhorse that the bass world is waiting for some larger cabs to go with the superb D800 and 800+ heads. Well, Mesa came through in the biggest way possible. THIS CAB IS PERFECT. Sound is outstanding. Articulate, if I had to choose just one word. All the pristine volume you could hope for. Form factor is great. At only 55 lbs. this cab is going everywhere with me. I've played it at a single rehearsal so far but I'm positive this is the one. I can honestly say that this is the last head/cab I will ever buy.

It is a great cab, no question. My observation in reading these reactions is many folks who found the SW112 a little less capable in the lows than they were hoping for discovered that the 212 configuration was impressive across the board. This seems very consistent with what I have observed in other 112 cab lines where when you double up or move to a 212 configuration the result is bigger performance than would have been expected.

I used my SW 2x12 this past weekend, with p.a. support. The D800+ and 2x12 cab sound is simply HUGE. I believe that 8/10 of my last gigs were through the 2x12.

I have two Mesa Subway 1X12 with a Mesa D-800. Sounds huge! My neighbor across the street told me he could hear me in his bedroom. I would love to try a Mesa Subway 2x15.

It is one of the few 115 cabs I've ever run across (light or heavy) where there isn't a performance tradeoff in some aspect across the frequency range. Excellent mid-range articulation, a very full low end, enough top end to cleanly round out the notes, and serious volume capability make it a bit of a unicorn among not just 115's but bass cabs in general IMO.

No, they are pretty small and short for casters for most players.

What kind of casters did you use? Mesa's or pop-in?

Most pop-in casters are not robust enough for this application. I have seen a few exceptions, but not many.

What got me was how loud it got, right off the bat. That 100.2dB sensitivity comes into play right away. Even with the Subway 350, it gets loud enough for a moderately loud trio. Doesn't seem to need much EQ, at least for my simple tone needs ( old school Soul, Blues ). My only gripe is that its a bit of a schlepp at 18" deep, 52 lbs. Lifting it in to my SUV is a bit awkward, and I need to bring a small two wheeler for load ins, but that has more to do with my 75 year old back, than anything else. I may have to go modular down the road, but we'll see.

Seeing the size of the cab compared to the P makes me rethink my wanting one. The price theyre getting for it sure dont look like $1200 worth of cabinet. Maybe just get a flat pack for a Fearfull and do my own....maybe two.

I own a m9 carbine (600watts) into a Ebs 210 4 ohm, i´m wondering a powerhouse 212 8ohm (second hand) bring me 300watts, don´t know if it is enough or do the efford and buy 212 subway one new, here in Spain is hard to find mesa stuff. I am happy with my set but i want to match mesa head with mesa cabs will be better sound or going into epifani or other...

I love, love, LOVE my Mesa 2x12 cab! Used it on a couple of gigs, sounds amazing! I'm thinking about getting the Subway 1x15 cabinet as a backup/use for smaller gigs though...should I pair that with the D-350 or go to the WD-800? Hmm.......
