Need a Combo

I would probably have done the same.
Lol. Am too busy... never called! Ha! Now I have to call them Monday.
Oh well, if I have to pay shipping to return it and get the right one, maybe pay a little extra... I've had a few nice breaks with gear.

On the other hand, this isn't a life's work. Maybe, between Eminence and US Speaker the advice will be it's not gonna be much of a difference. Coolin' it...

I'm such an excitable boy...

View attachment 1127766 View attachment 1127767 I'm thinking I may be in the mkt for a replacement 15" driver for my newly acquired 136 combo. Seems to be giving up a nasty artifact when I bend a string or lean into it, at about 1/3rd volume.

I'll get the original reconed too, unless maybe a new one is just a better idea. Anything I should know about the tuning of this cab? I'm betting I can put a pretty wide range of drivers in there and have success.
I had one of those about 30 years ago. I remember it was loud enough at the time and although large and bulky not too heavy. Getting a new speaker might breathe new life into it!

I'm curious.. why? I have 2 GK setups and a bunch of OD/Distortion/fuzz pedals. They sound fantastic.
Just guessing he had a negative OD experience ODing a GK with it's own preamp. Or ODing the GK's pre a bit too hard. If the latter, I'll bet it works by getting the tone from the pedal, but keeping the output level less than cranked. I don't doubt his word, but the experience of one is not always the experience of many and the experience of many is not the experience of all. Thinking about that makes me feel sooooo stoned. My only experience with OD and distortion is with a Carvin BX1600, a Pork Loin and a Russian Pickle. Either pedal sounds great with little tweaking, but stacking them makes it really easy to get noisy or just not the tone I like. The RP is new and I have a lot of experimenting to do. I know if I stack them, it's not a great tone for doing Otis Redding :D

Song title is Excitable Boy. Doesn't end well lol
Off to youtube me goes!

Thanks bro., I think... :D

Now I really feel soooooo stoned. As soon as I typed the name I got the youtube auto complete thing going, he's werewolf boy! I probably never listened to his stuff because they burnt his hits to a crisp on the airwaves. Yah, bone cages upset people who aren't used to bone cages, but doesn't bother me.

Nice and the price for a modification to a stock item is peanuts!

"We charge the retail price shown on our site for the model you want to modify, plus a nominal custom shop fee of 10%."

The nominal impedance change opens up some opportunities for those who desire an 8 ohm cab or more choice in parallel vs. series wiring for multi-driver cabs.

Hmmm, I wonder if the 10% would cover an aluminum dust cover for the 15's that don't reach very high and otherwise need a mid or tweeter.
