Need a Combo

Nice and the price for a modification to a stock item is peanuts!

"We charge the retail price shown on our site for the model you want to modify, plus a nominal custom shop fee of 10%."

The nominal impedance change opens up some opportunities for those who desire an 8 ohm cab or more choice in parallel vs. series wiring for multi-driver cabs.

Hmmm, I wonder if the 10% would cover an aluminum dust cover for the 15's that don't reach very high and otherwise need a mid or tweeter.

Well, I guess you'd pay for the dust cap, and then the 10%?...

Not sure how that would work, but even if they charged for the cover, it shouldn't be much more. I have a BP1525 rated at up to 2.1 KHz that was modified this way and I'm pretty sure it reaches well above that. I have a lazy bone problem that keeps me from measuring it :D

(Re-post from a related thread)

Well. Turns out the JBL K140 that came in my just-acquired Acoustic 136 isn't blown after all. The 136 connects from head to speaker by a patch cable to jacks outside the cabinet... so I bypassed the head and plugged my old Trace head into the cab. The speaker sounds great! What a fun surprise. Now I can go scrap up an old Joe's 15 cab and there's a sweet small room rig.

Meanwhile, it indeed appears that a 4 ohm driver is the right deal for this box. And as I remember, these heads into 8 ohms never really did very well- You really need a 4 ohm load to get enough draw from the head. That was the case with my 370 anyway. This one needs a little looking after besides, so it's off to the shop this week for a cleaning up.

More when the 136 Is up and properly loaded...
