i dont plan on using a tuner out. i REFUSE to use any active preamp circuit. sizzle yes.. tone.. no. i really dont know if i have anything with buffered bypass.
unless the end of the pot is no-load, wouldnt it automatically cut some treble?
I can't help you with the first part... we all have our biases about active vs. passive. That's for you to like or dislike, but it DOES affect how your bass interacts with a particular pedal/effect. Many active circuits sound lovely with little sizzle, but that's another discussion for another time.
Any pot in a signal chain will cut high-end to a certain degree, but the RIGHT pot for the RIGHT impedance input will minimize the effect, hence why Ernie Ball makes a pedal optimized for 'Active' signals, and one for 'Passive' signals.
Just for the record, I have no stake in Ernie Ball whatsoever... I just like their pedals, have had great luck with them, and see some misinformation being strewn about. Just trying to help in spite of obvious biases against them.
