I've been told that's how you pick a stage name. Name of the first pet you had and the street you grew up on. Never heard it referred to it as a hooker's name.

Having said that, my first pet was a cat named Tiger and I lived on Slade Street until I was 12 years old. So my stage name would be Tiger Slade.

My first thought when I read the OP was why does he need a gimmicky stage name?

I believe it's the porn actor's name formula. First pet + first street. Mine is Toby Laidlaw (yeeeeah), and I had a friend who was Boris Digby. My wife's is Parmigiana Rossmoyne (she had chooks as a kid).
