Need Help/ Advice: Fender Jazz Content

Ok, here's my deal. I am the proud owner of a '97 MIA Deluxe Jazz 5. I love the way she looks and feels, but I find the overall tone of the stock pickups to be lacking. I am the original owner and bought her from Musician's Friend without playing her first.

I'm thinking of doing multiple mods to make her more to my liking.

I'm considering replacing the pups with SD Quarter Pounder, as well as having a series/ parallel switch installed...

To those that are familiar with the basses from this date range, do you think I may need to also replace the onboard preamp as well?

I find myself having the blend more towards the neck pup to get a warmer P bass tone... more or less looking to make this Jazz have more B@LL$. I love the P tone but hate the feel of the P neck.

Any and all advice is welcome.

Please for the love of... Dont put the Quarter lb. in. Get the SD Antiquity II's or the Dimarzio model J's. The QP's will suck the life (mids) out of your jazz. Those mids are essential for cutting through the mix & laying down the law baby! I used the QP's one time & got drowned out by my entire band. They sound great if your by yourself or in a band with only one guitarist. Or if you have a super doom rig like mine.
