The folks here were so good with my last issue, I thought I would hit you up again. I am considering the purchase of a gloss black Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro. It has several issues that I am hoping can be fixed. Your suggestions and experience will be greatly appreciated.
1) The previous owner didn't like the gloss finish on the back of the neck and took coarse steel wool to it. He said it just scuffed the finish but did not go through it.
Q: will the Meguiars Ultimate Compound work to bring back the shine or will I need to take additional steps?
2) The chrome pickup covers look dull (see picture). Can I restore the brilliance with some chrome polish?
3) There are several scuffs on the headstock and edge of the bass. Any thoughts on reducing those?
4) The worst for last. There is a big chip that is down to the bare wood. Is this a tint + CA job or do I need to get some poly paint and try to cover that up? I don't have any experience with poly paint, so if that is the solution, some guidance would be helpful.
