I think I'm ready to broaden my horizons and get a 6 string, but i'm not very familiar with 'em so could anyone help me out and recommend some decent 6ers to check out that are also preferably below $800?

Brice, or you can save up $10,000 and get a Carl Thompson, and laugh in Les Claypool's face for having a more elaborate bass than his Rainbow bass...ummmmm what did I just say...

Ravenwestguitars = Invalid Link Removed, they come directly from Korea?? They are very cheap but I heard their quality is pretty good for that price.
In Finland some guitar and bass players ordered those directly from Korea and I believe they have been pretty happy.
