Just about any modern CCM tune written with that heavy sus chord structure can be played with regular major and minor or 7th chords. They are written that way for the drone sound on the high E and B strings scondarily and primarily to make it easy for the acoustic guitar strummer to CAPO and use the Paul Baloche method.

I hear you OP. Some times, it can get menotinous. Don't get me wrong, I'm talking about the music, not the worship. Sometimes the tunes we play over and over and over get very tiresome. It's time that main stream contemporary praise and worship music gets a new fresh sound. Our music director is trying to do just that. We write a lot of our own stuff and mix it in with contemporary worship music as well as bringing in some secular music as well. If your worship leader/music director or even your praise team is talented enough, maybe you can change up the arrangements a bit.

I've just got back into gospel bass again and been listening to Fred Hammond. It takes a while to find a good bassline there but work with these beautys:

My Heart is For You
Lord Your Grace

Hezekiah Walker's Reggie Parker does awesome basslines, check out his greatest hits - Gospel of Jesus Christ is amazing

I'm looking forward to bringing "Saved BY Grace" by Isreal Houghton into our Worship Team - that one should be good - great words, nice groove. Not a very basscentric piece, but nice anyways.

gotta say that this statement shocks me. Kinda like saying "I've been listening to Rush and it's sorta hard to find a good bass line there"
