For my senior project I am doing a report on bass. I need an interview from someone who has a job that relates to bass. I need it by tomarrow lol so if you have time for an interview please complete the fallowing questions as completely as possible.

1. What kind of work do you do related to bass?

2. Whats your favorite part about it?

3. What kind of carrer can bassist look for or go to school for that pertains to bass?

4. Who is your favorite bassist and why?

5. Who do you think is the most influential bassist of all time? why?

6. Whats your bass of choice, why?

7. What kind of advice would you give to a young bassist to get better at bass? What kind of things should they practice?

Please take the time to fill this out for me if you can, it wont take very long at all and it will help a high school senior get his work done lol.

Somebody going to answer his questions? Lets give our friend some help here.
I'm going to answer a couple of them that might help.
1. What kind of work do you do related to bass? Cover band. Classic Rock/Blues

2. Whats your favorite part about it? Making the earth shake under my feet.

3. What kind of carrer can bassist look for or go to school for that pertains to bass? My personal preference is to keep my nice paying day job and do the music as a hobby.

4. Who is your favorite bassist and why?
John Entwhistle. I love his tone and the way he attacks/slaps with his fingers. Huge influence on how I play even though I don't play his material. An influence to me is seeing something that inspires you to improve on your own style.

5. Who do you think is the most influential bassist of all time? why?
I'm going to leave this one blank as there are so many and I wouldn't feel comfortable picking one.
6. Whats your bass of choice, why? Fender P bass. I love the thump sound that it makes. It sounds wonderful "in the mix" but maybe not so much by itself. It is a very honest sound.

7. What kind of advice would you give to a young bassist to get better at bass? Listen to every type of music that you can even if it is not your thing. You can find lessons within all music. Play along with CD's. Never EVER refuse a chance to play with other musicians or perform live. Learn theory and how to read music.

Thats my 2 cents. Hope that helps a bit.

1. What kind of work do you do related to bass?
I play in an originals band; its a bit like starting up your own business. You expect that you're not going to pay yourself a salary for the next few years.

2. Whats your favorite part about it?
Being able to play with capable, inspiring musicians; any money that comes out of it is gravy on top.

3. What kind of carrer can bassist look for or go to school for that pertains to bass?
There's music schools out there, but you need some serious talent to get into those. Easiest way to make money? Play in a bar band that only does popular covers. All in all, making a career out of it is unlikely, and trying can be risky. Its certainly not my 'career.'

4. Who is your favorite bassist and why?
Joe Lally of Fugazi; he brought a big dub-style sound to a hardcore outfit and made it work beautifully.

5. Who do you think is the most influential bassist of all time? why?
James Jamerson; without him, the electric bass wouldn't have become a popular instrument.

6. Whats your bass of choice, why?
Fender Jaguar; it stands out in any crowd, sonically and visually.

7. What kind of advice would you give to a young bassist to get better at bass? What kind of things should they practice?
Control over your speed and attack is more important than you think. Learn the principals behind music, or you're just a human jukebox. And the jukebox will probably play it better.
