Need tips for amp with sharp, deep metal bass sound

I notice you just joined, so welcome to the forum.
But...
Just a little warning: this thread might turn into something that will cause immediate damnation.
I mean the "what's the best amp for metal?" thread.
For a metal bassist, the damnation is to be condemned to play Justin Bieber exclusively for the whole Eternity.
Be careful. Be very careful.

The RBI and RPM are rack mount preamps that pair well together stacked. I would match them with a Crest ProLite 2.0 amplifier. Additionally dont discount your cabs, as they are actually more important than your amp in terms of what your rig can actually do.

Obviously Depends on which particular models we are talking about, but I would think most offerings by Ampeg, Orange, or Mesa would do you well. especially if we are talking about the mid- to upper-end offerings.

Ive never played a Hiwatt, but I'd like to. :)

most bassist use sans amp into ampeg all tube amps.. lemmy uses a marshal basshead, I've seen guys use guitar amps blended with a clean di.. shinedown's bassist uses a dime amp for distortion.. as long as you got a clean mix.. you can blend any amps you want.. you don't have spend a lot to play metal.. if you aren't getting enough attack try a pick.. heavy plastic held at an angle to cut through the strings.. just down picking..

a lot of knobs.. solidstate amp for lower mids, clean bottom, and tube for the highs and upper mid harmonic content.. the only guy i know who uses that amp is fieldy.. but he uses it to filter his mids.. cliff burton used a m2000 very much the same way.. scooped eq..

In short i want something sharp, dominant, loud with the ability to operate distinct at low freq.

Budget 4000$ (i live in Norway so things are quite expensive)

If you want to be audible in a metal mix, you need mids. Otherwise you're just going to be battling over frequency with the kick drum, and that is a fight that you will lose, every time.

What sorts of sounds do you like?

Aside from all this distortion stuff, you talked about a booming low end.
You may want to think about adding a sub-harmonic pedal to your Arsenal.

DOD meatbox has been re-issued and has gotten OK reviews, although the octaver is weak, so I would dial it off.

I have a Mantic beef bag which pushes huge air and has gut rumbling sounds. It's an old one no longer made, but Mantic have other options like density hulk. I can recommend this if you find one.

On a final practical side think about your portability!
