Need your help, TB. Would you return this bass??

So it looks like they knocked another $800 off for the scratch. I’m curious if they offered this discount to you before shipping back to them. If not would you re buy at the lower price now? I tend to be of the thought that it should be close to perfect. It seems like it would be an easy repair and you’d think covered under warranty.

I paid $5400 thinking it was new. So they’re only knocking $300 off what I paid. When I sent them the photos of the crack, I didn’t request a return. I just asked what my options were. They replied with a return label.

To answer your question, if they had made me an offer to lower the price, I wouldn’t have taken it. I think this crack will get worse with time. Its unacceptable for a bass in this price range.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate their fast turnaround. Sweetwater is a really good company. I’m just a little surprised they didn’t send it back to Fodera.

the bass IS new. Sweetwater had to mark it as a demo when you returned it - they don’t label things as “customer return”.

Fodera might have already told seeetwater that the mark is not a defect , therefore they will not take it back. Or Maybe the contract they have is “no returns”. Or maybe seeetwater knows that it’s not worth to ship it back and would rather sell at a discount.

I wasn’t questioning if it was new when I bought it. And I understand why it’s marked demo. I was just surprised that they’re reselling it with that crack. If you’re right & Fodera won’t take it back, I guess they don’t have much choice.

What’s even more interesting, they’ve removed the photos of the damage. They had originally included photos of the actual bass with a close up of the finish crack on the neck. As of last night, all photos of the actual bass are gone. They’re using a stock photo with a description. That seems a little odd.

Oh well. They took good care of me. Other than not getting the bass I want, I’m satisfied.

Some years ago I got a Fodera from a dealer, new. As soon as I opened it, I felt it had a ding on the back of the neck. Through the dealers arrangement, I overnighted the bass to Fodera. They refinished the neck in one day, one day'd it back to me, and I had my brand new bass back in 3 days. That's one of the reasons I will always play Fodera.

While I have no personal experience with Fodera CS, I doubt they refused to touch the bass. You hear some pretty good stories from them. Considering their cost, they damn well need to have great CS.

That’s amazing! If they had offered me that, I’d have done it in a heartbeat. It’s a beautiful bass.
