What did the white pickguard say?

So glad y'all hate it. The thread was "NeedsTort" not "do you like tort".

Not that the white guard "said" anything as much as it complemented the stripes against that awesome blue color. I understood the post to be a question if it needs tort. Just opinions, still a great bass.

You'd probably hate my paint schemes, and that's ok too.

Of course not, and wise of you to note My Good Man. Also, my GF (legal asst.) recommends not using the term “tort reform “, and suggests that “pickguard reform” is a more inclusive term. Sharp as a tack that one.

I think that what he's saying, is that waaaay before even the most senior TB member posted the very first Tortsturbation thread, real tortoiseshell was in use. I'm glad it's illegal now.

The article says that assertion is incorrect. There were picks for a couple of years that were actual tortoise shell. But Fender has only ever used celluloid for pickguards.

True, Fender never did. However if you read the entire article (1st 2 paragraphs) you’ll read that real tortoise shell from real tortoise’s was used for picks, pickguards, hairbrush handles, and other things by other manufacturers well before Fender existed.

If I were considering a change for that bass I'd more likely choose a white pearloid or brushed silver anodized aluminum pickguard.

The article was presented as "Fender used real tortoise" which was not the case. Subsequent posts revealed the poster's larger intent. Which is all kinda ridiculous considering me and @ryan pate were making terrible puns.

I was about to post a "...Right over their head" gif when I saw that you finally had to explain your comment (Compliment/complement). Although this one is more easy to understand being used mistakenly. Some of the ones that bother me more are:

• Lose/loose
• Affect/effect
• There/their/they're
• To/too/two

I'm sure there are more, but those are some of the ones that originally popped into my head. As for the original post, I vote White Pearloid.
