Negative or positive for Rickenbacker basses

If you mean Rickenbacker I am not of fan of their sound but it has a big fan base amongst bassist around the world. The reason why there are so many different makes of basses. It is very popular bass so I can't say it's inferior. But to me I have to agree with a very famous luthier who makes outstanding basses in one of the burrows in New York once said.... They look like can openers.
