Not surprising at all. There are people all over the internet waxing lyrical about how great the T-40 sounds (and then moaning about how heavy it is)

The best set up, playing and sounding bass (imo) in my GC right now is a Yamaha 170J. Under $200. Could very well be a fluke. Or not.

No reason it shouldn't be. A bass is a pretty simple thing to make, and there's no reason I'm aware of why a cheap one can't be great.

The heaviness is worth it, imo. The weight doesn't worry me much personally anyway. My Jazz bass is almost as heavy as T-40s and I'm used to playing that for a couple of hours at a time. So I don't think the T-40 I'm buying will be too much of a problem.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but IME it isn't true - I tried a Fender pup, and now have EMG's in my Fury, FWIW... I have never denied that the Fury has excellent fretwork - but the neck finish is pretty crude, as is the body finish...

I just got to reading this thread, and that bass was $450 at GC, if any of you are in washington area, it's in bellingham, you could also buy the ovation magnum they have there for $700, anyways, I really wish I could buy, and imo, I love a heavy bass, if it's too lightweight it doesn't really feel right. But anyways, maybe one of you can pick it up, it's a black finish and is quite cool!
