New 2013 Guild Starfire Bass Reissue

Here's a couple of vids with Mike from Guild talking about the new models in general.

Sounds like the only thing they've changed up from the originals is fret size and fretboard radius to be more modern, they're 95% vintage accurate otherwise. They took apart the pickups on the vintage models and sent them to Korea to replicate.

No specific mentioned of the bisonics, but he did say there were no technical problems in recreating the old pickups.

Exactly, though I can't believe that they wouldn't release a SFII at some point soon, you know? I'm more surprised that they didn't just release a SFII, not to bag on the SFI, which is super cool. Because there's more to the SFII than just an extra pickup, there's the additional controls as well. I'd also like to see a nice sunburst released too.

I'd love one of these if the PUPs sound right. From the clip I'm getting some of the old vibe but its hard to tell with those rounds. Something about the mix of bottom and clarity on those old Bi-sonics, just a perfect balance on an HB.

I still kick myself for not buying a white all original SF I in NY a few years ago for $1500.

That's not very reassuring. It seems to me that if they valued the original bi-sonic design and understood its current cult status, they'd be using the pickups as a selling point. As it stands, the new Starfire bass seems like an afterthought, a bass version of their guitar reissue.

I'd love to be proven wrong, though. And the clips I've heard sounded really good.

I agree. So, the question is, are the people at Guild really this bad a promotion? Or do they not have the genuine thing to promote?

I figure if it mattered enough to them to get right, they'd be promoting it. Bi-sonics are a pretty distinctive pickup design that would not be inexpensive to replicate. So the question is, would *FMIC* go to that much trouble for the one bass in their line of Korean Guild reissues?

And like I said before, I am more than willing to be proven wrong/the clips sound good!

don't waste your breath screaming: they are completely and incredibly deaf and blind when it comes to Coronado! It is the 30th time I write this: if they would reissue it, they would sell a lot of Coronado: even under the Squier or VM, vibe or other minor league! I bet!

Oh yes, the Coronado! Not the Fender though. Hagström Coronado - the original bisonic bass!
