New 2013 Guild Starfire Bass Reissue

I am not surprised Fender went with the bridge pup. EVERYBODY like those, but there's a much smaller market for a mudbucker, which is what those neck pups sounded like. That said, I could be interested in a mudbucker, especially on a Starfire.

:hyper: it would be fun to see Fender reissueing a... Hagstrom!

Now there is a Coronado that won't feedback

if you use it with common sense it won't. Every single hollow instrument tends to feedback, but if you play it not in front of a full blasted amp in general it is way better!!! Otherwise jazz guitars would not exist at all!!! ;)

Glen's favorite with Tull was a Gibson EB3. The bass he's pictured with on the cover of Benefit is an EB2D but he said that bass was the worst he's ever played and only used it on lip synched tv performances because it looked good. This is according to the Fly guitars site.

Has anyone who has owned a bisonic measured the kOhm on it? I got four bisonic. One is broken, one measures around 6 kOhm, one around 14 and one is above 16. Huge difference there.

They are supposed to be about 6 k. The other ones might be wound the same, but use thinner gauge magnet wire.

This is madness. Has anyone heard the bass in the demo? While it sounds nice, it does not remind me of the sound of the original Hagstrom bi-sonic or Fred Hammon's version either. What's the point of having such a cosmetically identical re-issue without engineering the pickup the same way? It's like saying the Epiphone EB0 has a great mudbucker sound based on it's looks.

It sounds like one to me. Thought I was expecting it to be brighter. depends on how the amp was set I guess.
