nooooo! I feel like if that’s the case I may as well just buy a Serek or a Rickenbacker. I realize not at all the same thing, but if my LP DC Money bass and Embassy are in the ballpark of the TB sound, then it would be sorta redundant.

I do love the non reverse TB something fierce though.

Any Gibson dealer should be able to pre-order. My LMS has one coming. Says it ships 4/5 last I checked. In Inverness green.

After I read the news release from Gibson, I called my guy at SW. He entered it as a pre-order after confirming with Gibson. It still doesn’t show on their website, but I got the order confirmation from SW back in Feb.

I just texted my dude at SW. let’s see if I can get on the same deal!

Super excited about this! Only thing I wish is it was possible to get an aftermarket pickguard with the T-bird logo. Not so much a fan of the white with the Inverness.

I recently picked up a natural money bass to compliment my epi embassy, and I’m slowly learning that the Thunderbird sound is kind of everything I’ve been looking for. To the point that I’m starting to forget my fender’s even exist.

That’s how I feel about a new (to me) Epi Les Paul Special. OMG, you mean you can use the bridge pickup?

I’m the mom of a would-be bass player who really wants a Thunderbird for his birthday later this year. He’s a lefty, and I know Gibson made the LH model a few years ago, but I’ve had zero luck finding one for sale. Could this NR model be essentially restrung upside down to accommodate?

A good luthier could convert this to a lefty. I did it with one of the 2013 NRs. Plays great. If the strap pin is at the neck heel, it sits just like my reverse. Just waiting for the new pickguard with the Thundebird logo properly-oriented.

“Oh yeah...in fact, they're telling us to expect some of these either end of month or early May, so we should be getting close!”

I always wanted to like a T-Bird, but couldnt get on with the terminal neck dive. The promo says "Improved Balance". Does that mean no neckdive, or "less neck dive than most T-Birds" ?

I hear ya. I’ve been very fortunate with mine. Even though it’s by far my lightest bass, the dive isn’t noticeable. I run my strap over the rear of the body, to keep it from leaning outward due to the location of the front strap button (or perhaps because of my gut). That may also be why it’s a non issue for me.

I hadn’t read much promo material on the NR. I don’t even know what the hardware will be, but I heard some rumblings about Alnico pups, which I prefer.

I’m hoping that the NR sounds like my R, that it has a neck feel like my R, and serves as an equal, to back up my R. I was gonna buy another R, but when the NR was announced, I couldn’t resist.
