Here's a great lefty Thunderbird II, this bass RAWRS.

Yeah, V., I’ve heard those definitely RAWR! It’s a lefty, but I could maybe flip it over and call it a NR. Too bad Japan isn’t yet allowing visitors or I’d already be local enough to check it out.

Price seems OK and I’ve only ever heard good things from Greco owners.

The post I quoted was from someone looking for a lefty, there's lots of righties out there as well, both here in the US and in Japan, prices do seem to be going up on them - Great basses!

Curious if anyone has been able to get a sense of the neck profile on this re-issue? I have 2014 T-Bird I like very much. I tried a 2012 NR re-issue and did not care for the neck, wider and thicker than my 2014. Just curious as I would love to pre-order one but can't get any info. I even called Gibson and the only thing thay were able to tell me was that the release date was the end of July.....

I hear ya. I’ve been very fortunate with mine. Even though it’s by far my lightest bass, the dive isn’t noticeable. I run my strap over the rear of the body, to keep it from leaning outward due to the location of the front strap button (or perhaps because of my gut). That may also be why it’s a non issue for me.

I hadn’t read much promo material on the NR. I don’t even know what the hardware will be, but I heard some rumblings about Alnico pups, which I prefer.

I’m hoping that the NR sounds like my R, that it has a neck feel like my R, and serves as an equal, to back up my R. I was gonna buy another R, but when the NR was announced, I couldn’t resist.

I don't know how much mine weighs but I was pretty surprised when I picked it up.

My '19 has great ergonomics. Might be because the new (post-'86) ones have smaller headstock and tuning pegs. It proves that mass doesn't directly correlate to sustain, which this axe has quite some.

True. Mine has insane sustain, although I never need much.

I’m the mom of a would-be bass player who really wants a Thunderbird for his birthday later this year. He’s a lefty, and I know Gibson made the LH model a few years ago, but I’ve had zero luck finding one for sale. Could this NR model be essentially restrung upside down to accommodate?

My reliable SW rep contacted me June 4 to say it was looking like first week of July.

I thanked him for the reminder, and reminded him of the April/ May/ June estimates.

We both had a good laugh. Maybe this year?

I've been checking a few times a week for updates on this, and finally saw it for sale last night. Its "sold out" the places I found it, so I made a call to my guitar guy, and he called me back today with the following information from EU importers: It is available for order, and expexted delivery is early to mid august. Salesprice will be around 1750-1900 euro, or around 2100 usd. I already ordered one Stoked!

Put my pre-order in at Sweetwater for the Pelham Blue model. Rep said they're showing a mid August date but don't hold my breath. All in price was a tad over 1900.

I love these and I think I will have to have one.

Kudos to Gibson for going with the nickel hardware, I wish they had gone a step further and added the two piece bridge/tailpiece though.

Still want one. Pelham Blue please.

Agreed that claw and tune o matic would be better and i wish the tuners were in the same spot as the reverse so the e would be the longest.

It is one of the most gorgeous basses ever made. The sound can always be modified.

I hope epiphone puts one out so i can afford one. Ive been after a flying v bass for a while now but haven't seen any under 900 that wasn't from japan and beat to hell. I hinted at epiphone to reissue the v bass and maybe a full scale 335 bass also. You never know what they are up too especially bass wise as they are far more guitar active. I love the epiphone 60s t bird and the t bird classic pro(gibson pickups,neck thru). Really hope i get the epiphone basses im dreaming of lol. I want this Gibson but my bank account doesn't.

One 2021 NR in faded Pelham Blue arrived at the House of Guitars over a month ago. I orderd the Inverness Green so I passed on it, I already had three Pelham Blue Tbirds.
