LOTS of parts arrived in the mail today. Built up the first one tonight. Got a couple tweaks to do but it sounds great! The rest of the parts I need for the full build should be here by the end of the week.
I hope I don't sound too dumb asking this, but could anyone briefly explain the difference between the Proton and the Groove Regulator / GR2?

i usually don't like down sweeps on filters. but i do on this little bugger. i was trying it on a build up outro that gets a bit hectic last night at practice. end of the song my singer asked, "what were you doing to make the lazer cat noise?". so we got in a long discussion (me, him and the drummer) about why lazers would sound different mounted on different animals, and the relative merits of a cat lazer versus a bulldog or shark lazer.

Proton is based on the old Mutron 3. The GR2 is based (loosely at this point) on the Lovetone Meatball. The GR2 has more controls and more of an ability to fine-tune the filter sweep, while the Proton is simpler and designed to get one specific sound. Both are pretty easy to use and master, but the Proton is simpler.

Sort of. You can approximate the Proton sound on the GR2 with the right attack and decay settings and get pretty close, but it won't sound exactly the same. Also, the down sweep on the Proton sounds WAY different.
i know! seems if you want to go for funk, you'd aim for that Lemur Lazer sound. but a cat like a pissed off little lemur, so i guess that works.

You should be able to download it. I did that the day it came out with no issues. It's so nice to be able to use PT with my Metric Halo interfaces!
But I digress... Back to groovy enveloping!

I don't have an ilok, so I have to wait for my boxed version. I'm just glad its feature set is more in line with PTHD - I work mostly on HD rigs and the previous versions of LE were a joke.
