New 3leaf Pedal???

Anybody have any soundclips? I know someone posted some earlier, but i can't open them. This might be a late X-mas gift for me. Hey Spencer, any ideas on release date for your OD pedal? Thinking I need more dirt, but might hold out for that.

Proud owner of a Groove Regulator

i'll post more. the ones i posted earlier in the thread are a demo of how unsatisfying the original circuit was.

and the update- got mine today, toyed around for a few minutes. much better, absolutely a usable normal filter. it definitely is very mutronish, i was pretty pleased with what i was hearing. stay tuned for clips and a review- hopefully later tonight, and in the mix clips probably after saturday.

Just got it, but it'll have to wait until the weekend (hopefully) or Monday. Got a slew of performances and a couple of rehearsals to shoehorn in this week.

EDIT: I couldn't wait, so found a couple minutes to fire it up. It retains that lushness of the low end that the band and myself really liked, but has that quickness that really makes the fast passages really light up.

i honestly diddnt listen back to this at all, but the rundown is-

clifford roi bass, markbass LMII, brickhouse 2x12" recorded into the internal mics on a zoom H4n placed about 6 feet infront of the cabinet in a small (awfull sounding-sorry) room, to wav then converted to aac in itunes.

i like the filter, and it definitely has a lot of mutron similarities, and for most, will do just fine. i know its been a while since ive owned a mutron, but i'm real hesitant to say this is a "copy" of the sound. i'd still rather own this over a Qtron, for sure though.

thats of corse being critical looking for "exact" mutron sound. on the whole- its a great filter. still need to spend more time with it and try and a/b it with a vintage mutron.

Nice sample and demo of some of the sounds, and cool playing, grooooooooove.

Here's a sample "in the mix" from rehearsal last night.

Like Groooove, I'll caveat:
I didn't have much time to play with settings, as we're breaking in a new keyboard player and needed to focus. I found one that worked for the tune.
But it's a setting I'll use...
Zon bass, Peavey TNT 100 amp (!), and the Proton.

howd you record it? nice dirty room sound, i love it.

ill have mix samples after saturdays rehearsal.

ONE envelope filter is never enough i guess (already have the Groove Regulator, DOD FX25B, Exar PigNose and the Boss AW-2).

MXR M82 and Source Audio Bass Envelope Filter was on my GAS-list, but i will go for the new Proton. Does the Proton sound somehow similar to the M82?

mine was running on a 9v battery, i meant to say that.. want to hear it with 18v, i think it might get a lot more into the "legitimately mutron" territory.

If it reacts like the old version did when I ran it at 18v, it'll lose a lot of that low end lushness that it has at 9v. The sweet spot for it was around 12v; I'll have to pull out the Y cable to see how it reacts.

Yeah, calibrated and true-bypassed. The true bypass makes it tough to volume-match, which is an important but overlooked part of A/B testing. People subconsciously prefer louder sounds.

yup.

back in the day my mutron was all original, and it sounded significantly different from modded ones.. dirtier, with more of a resonant "sharpness" that i'm not seeing in this / calibrated vintage mutrons. thats what i miss ever so dearly. but in comparison to the Qtron, this pedal wins hands down..

just got mine (thanks TiggerBassy!!). DAYUM.

i've never used a Mutron, or any of it's copies, but man this thing is nice. i think it's gonna bump the MXR BEF off of my main board. that and the IE Xerograph are on there right now. and the Xerograph is so not moving.

thanks Spencer! delicious little box of yummy!

And here I was going to offer to bring mine to your Effects GTG, behndy!

Shoulda known, your effecto-graspology would reach out and snag one before I could. :D

And yeah, folks, this pedal is really, really sweet. I am really enjoying it. I think it will move the Mutron III+ off my board.
Which will mean that I have way more board real estate than I can afford...
