Every bit of that just sounded right! Not just great, but RIGHT! It's always tough to tell from demos, but it seems like you nailed it. The cool thing is it seems like you don't have to crank up the Peak to get that sharp "pop". I don't like that overly resonant, hissy, whispering, whistle sound that some filters can't seem to dial out without making the filter sound dull. I've been missing my original Mu-Tron III, which I sold it for purely economic reasons, and I've been looking for The One ever since. The Proton just may be The One!

sigh. the synth sounds delicious. and if it tracks that well i'm SO in if you're doing another pre-release try like this one.

Judging by the clip, this new Proton thang has a "sharper" tone, particularly hitting the peaks, while my Groove Regulator is a little more "rounded", hits the peaks more softly. Difference between the Mutron and Meatball circuits, I suppose. Both pedals sound great to me. Spencer makes good stuff. :)

Your synth sounds really good so far, and I'm not really even a synth guy! Now I REALLY can't wait to hear your overdrive! I'm still on the list for a prototype, right? :ninja: :D ;) ;) lol

Yeah I wanted to get some prototype circuit boards for the overdrive done but then I started working on this octave synth thing and it sort of took over. Shirts are a good idea!

A couple of questions:

- so, the Proton has similar sound to the GR2 in terms of acting as an autowah, but just not all the features (fewer tone controls, no wet/dry)?

- the Proton is smaller than the GR2? (This is a concern given the spot available on my board.) Can you tell us the dimensions of the Proton?

I wouldn't say that. The Groove Regulator is a stripped down and modded Meatball circuit that has a very smooth feel.

The Proton is made to sound like the original MuTron III and is therefore more "peaky" and "greasy" sounding.

Love the demo vid by the way Spence.

This is what Spencer told me

"The GR2 is a bit more subtle and smooth sounding. The Proton has a big "THWAP" sound on each note that was a characteristic of the Mutron. The Proton can also get a bit crazier if you turn up the peak control. "

The Proton doesn't sound totally different from the GR2, but it definitely has its own character. It only has the features that the original Mutron had. The GR2 is definitely the pedal for knob tweakers. Oh, and no room for a battery in the Proton.

The Proton is smaller - about 4.9 inches tall and 2.6 inches wide. All the jacks are top-mounted.
