New 3leaf Pedal???

Bass face poster child. :ninja: ;)

Hey, looks like you're using some light gauge strings in that video. What set are you using? Have you noticed any difference in how lighter strings play with effects? I've been wanting to check out a lighter set on my Jazz bass for a while now. Just curious.

5sg.

Nope, normal gauge Dunlop nickels. I've got a pretty heavy touch so I need my strings to have some tension.

Love that sound from Proton!!!!!!
Wonder which Fuzz pedal will work good with Proton
or there's gonna be a Fuzz product under 3leaf??
(well....I saw someone mentioned Overdrive, so...)

Fuzzes don't play nice with envelope filters. If you want to use a fuzz, you want a filter with an effects loop (the GR2 has this). That way you can trigger the filter with your clean tone while filtering the fuzzy tone. For synth sounds, I like a ring modulator better.

yeah, i respectfully disagree. Fuzz -> Filter -> Octaver is delicious and/or angry.

i have a few fuzzes and filters that are great alone, but SHINE when used together.

Let me put it this way: Fuzz kills playing dynamics, which is what filters react to. So while fuzz into a filter can get a cool sound, the filter won't react the way I want it to.

I Love filters and octavers. I think my hate of fuzz is why I'm making the synth pedal. Octave + square wave + ring modulator into a filter owns when it comes to keyboard bass-like sounds. Maybe it's just because my background is in R&B, soul, etc. where fuzz is not exactly appropriate.

Amen to that brother! An MXR BOD into either of your GRs is KILLER, and I've got an Ampeg Sub Blaster headed my way that I'm very much looking forward to checking out with them. I'll try to post up some clips when I can!

I'm also not a fuzz guy at all, similar background... funk, R&B, etc, and a lot of Motown lately. I know I probably should have a fuzz in my sonic toolbox, but I just don't like the sound. Nothing personal at all Behndmeister... just not my thing. :)

Oh man, do I love me some low gain, tubey, only just past the edge of "can't even tell it's on" overdrive though! Mmmmmmm hmmmm!

i feel you. it DOES change the dynamics a lot. or obliterate the reaction to dynamics. but there are some crazy good tones to be had going Fuzz -> Filter.

that said, i'm REALLY looking forward to your SynthoBox. pretty delicious looking sir.

So I think you guys are cool, but my wallet hates you all.

5sg., I was all set to list my BOD for sale tonight. Took a couple pics, was getting ready to create a new thread, and I saw this. That was a problem. I took out the board, ran the BOD after the GR and....

....let's just say that I don't need the pics and I don't need to create a new thread for the time being.

behndy, you rule man. The VT looks like it will work out great for what I needed and the GR makes me feel like a kid again just learning to appreciate the instrument. Haven't had an envelope filter in so long.

And Spencer, your pedals are evil temptresses. The GR serves me fine, but that Proton is just oozing cool. A synth pedal? Killer. And if there is an overdrive in the future, I may have to learn to live off of ramen for awhile.

Thanks guys!

A good sound, for sure, but now try running the BOD into the GR! That's just plain awesomeness. ;)

And then go join the 3Leaf club, it's linked in my sig for your convenience. :ninja: lol

well......actually I was plan to buy bass big muff and enigma from EHX
because the price of 00funk and brown dog from chunk system are too high for me
though they sound really good together.
and now I hear your fantastic Proton sound sample
I just thought that maybe there will be some fuzz pedal doing good paired with it
so nobody does the filter -> fuzz way??

Spencer, I'm very impressed with your work.

Your new synth pedal, does it do the octave > square wave (does that mean extreme fuzz?) > ring mod sound you described above? When will it be availalbe? Battery power option on pedals, please!

Yeah I'm basically designing it to put out any sound that I'd ever want to run into a filter. I want one box that I can use as an octaver, a ring modulator or a square wave fuzz (or all of them at the same time). The square wave will be synthesized from the octave divider, so it will be fuzzy but much cleaner than a muff-style fuzz.
