New Acoustic Classic Combos.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Haven't seen a thread on these yet. I'm excited to try them, especially the 100 Watt combo. I had a little 30-watt combo from them for my first amp that I loved. They also have a new 410 and 115 cab as well.

Thoughts?

I've used an Acoustic AB50 as my primary amp for about 3 years with my acoustic/electric Beatles band, and I love it. I run the signal to a Reddi tube D.I., which is run through the P.A. system (which is what the audience hears.) The amp is my onstage monitor, and sits on an amp stand. Due to the wedge/monitor cab design, the 10" speaker is aimed at my ear (we perform seated,) and is very easy to hear.

I just saw the ad for the new Acoustic bass combos yesterday. Some of the new upgrades sound intriguing to me, so I've decided to order one through GC. I originally ordered the B50C (again, 50 watts with a 10" speaker,) however, I immediately realized that this new version did NOT have a line out. With that, I decided to take a chance and order the B100C, which is rated at 100 watts and has a 12" speaker, and it includes a D.I., send/return and other features:

I'll see how the new amp sounds, and figure out if it's a good fit for my band. I'm hoping the new amp is as easy for me to hear onstage as my the AB50. I have another a TC 250 watt 1x12" combo that my son and I both share that I've used on gigs in the past, however, even on the amp stand, it was difficult to hear on stage.

The amp should arrive before the end of the month. We'll see how it goes.

nixdad, when you get your amp, take a picture of it and post it in the Combo Club found in these pages. We're a combo-loving group, and it'd be great to get your thoughts on this new amp. I'm predicting similar overall tone, but with differently-placed tonal settings it might give ya some variety. The angle-positioning ability is a winner and one I think we'll see more of in the future because it makes sense. Enjoy!

Includes a factory 3 year warranty
GC seems to have been good about service and replacement (if needed) of their acoustic brand amps.
I think the price is high - but I expect they will have many sales.

seamonkey, that's already begun with 20-25% off at MF if you can spell the word s-u-m-m-e-r. So my guess is they'll be keeping these quite competitive so people can feel they're buying a lot more at those price ranges. Could be a successful campaign if the amps sound good, hold up well, and receive some positive word-of-mouth.

Will do. The broader EQ is actually what attracted me to the new design (as well as a VISA gift card I had at my disposal.) I'm hoping for the best. I also agree that the monitor shaped designed makes a ton of sense in several settings, as it has certainly fit the needs for my current band. I remember when Trace Elliot first introduced wedge-shaped combos back in the late 80's/early 90's, but they were YEARS ahead of their time and did not sell well. It's great to see that other manufacturers reintroduced the idea years later (along with other improvements,) and so the design has finally found an audience.

Yeah, I was able to get mine for 25% off at GC.

Nixdad, I was wondering if you ended up getting the new Acoustic amp and if so, what your thoughts were? I've got this awful hankering of picking up the 50 just for the bedroom, but I 'd like to get some opinions, besides my own, before handing over the dough. Don't forget to respond at the Combo Club too. Thanks!
