New Aguilar AG 700! Coming April 2017.
I dig it, but...
a) where is the second channel???
b) I wanted a two channel, 700-800W Tone Hammer. I mean, yeah, its cool they are bringing back the AG and all, but I reeeeeeeeeeally wanted a two channel, more powerful Tone Hammer head.
Other than my two petty complaints, it looks and sounds pretty cool.
An Aguilar Legend... Reimagined
I want one! I loved my AG 500, wish I never sold it.
Be prepared for yet another TH 500 blow out sale in the classifieds...
I take it you have noted all that extra real estate on the front panel just waiting for the 2nd channel?
That will be the AG700+.
Doesnt look rack mountable to me. Likely dealbreaker.
Looks like an updated version of a TH500. What's so different about it? #Notbuyingthehype
4 band eq, like the AG not the TH.
bright and deep switches.
Still have my AG500SC - don't use it anymore, although it sounded fine when I did. If it had come out before the D-800(+), I might have been tempted, but by then I had already bought the M6 and that started me down a path...
What are they using for the Class D Module? An update of the old 500 model or something different?
The 2 channel AG 500 was pretty cool. Who knows they might offer one in the future! maybe in boss brown...
About a month ago I emailed Aguilar requesting an 800 or 1000 watt Tone Hammer. They responded to the effect that there were no plans to release a higher powered Tone Hammer at this time but to keep my eyes open for other exciting product announcements. I guess this is it. I will have to try one! If they reissue the 2 - channel version that will be even better.
Looks cool. The EQ is more traditional than the TH. AG500s sound great, will be interesting to see how this compares.
Very underwhelming IMO.
It'll probably please the die hard Aguilar fans looking for a cleaner sounding and more powerful TH500. But at a street price of 849$, as stated by Premier Guitar, the Subway D-800 and the new Trickfish Bullhead .5K are more appealing.
It is strange that this isnt a db659 or 751 pre with burly class D power. I would figure they'd sell a ton of those.
The AG500 is one of my favorite amps. I had a TH500 as well and preferred the AG500 greatly over the TH.
This new one is only 4 pounds.
I like the second channel on my AG bc even if you back off the gain on the dirt channel, the tone is different from the clean channel - its like having two amps.
I can definitely see them coming out with a dual channel AG700. Funny thing though - not a huge difference between 500 watts and 700 watts, volume wise. Not complaining, and understand they wanted to set the AG up-market from the TH line, hence the higher wattage.
I've either sold or stored all my other amps - only playing my AG500 these days. Great tone every time I plug in.
Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.
