New Aguilar AG 700!

Agree about the hype. Always liked the AG500. Really wanted to like the TH500. But the baked in sound and the lack of power into an 8 ohm load were both deal breakers. Great build though.

If they can retain the sound of the original AG an a class D that would be sweet!Not that the original was terribly heavy.

I have no experience with the old AG. I tried the TH 500 but I didn't really bond with it.
Does anyone know what the "go to " baked in tone will be on the AG 700.
I'm looking for an excuse to get a new amp to switch off from my Mesa D800

how crazy am i for thinking "man i really wish they put an *aux in+headphone out* on this amp, so i could plug in a drum machine or a metronome etc"?
i know some people here like to say a "pro" amp does not need that
and DAVE B once told me something like.. that adding a "CD in+headphone out" would need more space, and circuitry and the price point would go up. so i infer that they do not find it to be important enough

but because i like Aguilar gear, i like the company and how light weight the SL cabs are and how good they sound.. not having a CD and Headphone out make me feel like that this face describes it best - :(

ps - i know i am sort of ranting/venting! and it is about 2 am here, so if the AG700 has the cd and headphone jacks and am not able to spot them in the specs then am a doofus!

I agree that these features are useful. I use the aux in at rehearsal frequently. Am I going to pass on a great sounding amp of it doesn't have aux and headphone? No, but it would make a great amp even better.

Perhaps, there is a new product Dave B. & Co, could come with: a headphone practice preamp, basically a Tone Hammer preamp in a desk top box with stereo Aux in and headphone outs, an Aguilar version of the great, but long discontinued, Raven Labs PHA-1. :thumbsup:

if i was in the USA, it would be easy to own multiple amps so i'd have a smaller lower wattage amp with an aux in like the tc300w red box thing
and compliment it with this amp or with a mesa d800 (which actually has an aux and headphone i think) anyway but because it takes a lot to import one amp head into my location, i would just pick the d800 when or the d800+!

Back in the day I had owned a DB680 + lead sled power amp, then DB680 + DB728, and then DB750... and eventually got rid of it all in favor of an AG500. By far my favorite Aguilar creation - and the distortion channel blew everything else out of the water at the time. It was so fast.

I had always been indifferent to having aux ins on amps until I wanted to integrate synth into my playing and wanted a way to run it through my bass rig - ended up using a looper pedal that can sum two channels to mono.

Looks like more and more people are looking for the Aux in and headphones out. I noticed last year that the Genzler Magellan and the Mesa Subway were the only two that really offered the complete package. I wound up picking the Mesa of the two mainly because of the 2 ohm load capability. At the time I still had two 4 ohm cabs and it worked fine.
