New Aguilar AG 700!

We're all guessing. . . . but if this takes the TH on a step or 2 I'd be interested.

Shame they didn't make it 2 ohm capable, and am I the only person who's accidentally hit the - 10db button (badly placed IMO) and wondered where the volume went?

Noticed the specs are up on the site now. 700 watts @ 2.67 or 4 ohms. 2.67? Is that with you get with two cabs when one is 4 and the other is 8 ohms?

Bass: +/- 17 dB @ 40 Hz
Deep: +6 dB <250 Hz
Low Mid: +/- 15 dB @ 300 Hz
High Mid: +/- 14dB @ 800 Hz
Treble: +/- 14 dB @ 4 kHz

Ok, super stupid question here: that "+6 dB <250 Hz" means boost only, no cut, under 250Hz?

Nope, it's a totally different amp with its own sound. Not another Tone Hammer at all. Given the fact the last AG was bigger and heavier (not Class D), and it was previously discontinued, the hype around this is warranted.

AFAIK the original AG500/SC had a class D power section. ..
As always, I could be wrong.

My guess is that there is a deep switch that boosts all frequencies under 250Hz by +6 dB

I don't believe that it did, but I too could be wrong. It sure was heavy for Class D if that was the case!

I believe it was all MOSFET.

Class D amps generally do use MOSFETs, so you are not necessarily wrong.

They are Class D amps with a line frequency toroidal transformer rather than an SMPS, which accounts for the weight. Similar to the Crown K1/K2 series and the original iAmp 800 in that regard.

The AG 500 used a Tripath TDA 2500, not sure if that was Class D, as what I can find says Class T (whatever that is).

Class T is trademarked adspeak for a proprietary Class D driver chipset, essentially. Most of the Aguilar adspeak and reviews that I've seen just call it Class D in any case.

I suspect it is the same new 700w ICE module that is being used by Genzler, Bergantino, Trickfish, Glockenklang, Mesa Boogie, Reiner Amplification, etc.
