New Aguilar SL110 cabs.

I agree that the logo is too big. I also agree that a 4 Ohm option would be nice. I use a TH350 with a Euphonic Audio Wizzy 10 (4 Ohms) and it really moves some serious air. I also wish the cabinet were not quite so deep though I'm sure that helps the bottom end.

Several years, I was at Aguilar when they were here in Manhattan and begged Dave Boonshoft to make a 10" cabinet. Sadly, he didn't see the market for it.

I'm curious about your statement regarding the Barefaced 10 destroying this in every way. Have you played through or heard the Aguilar SL110? A few years ago when I wanted to add to the arsenal, I debated ordering one or two of the Barefaced 10s until I played through a friend's. While it was impressive, it was not the tone signature I was after. I opted for a Genzler BA10-2 with the Magellan 350 head. I was about to buy a 2nd Genzler cabinet when I saw the new Aguilar. Should I not expect it to be in the same league as the Genzler?

People like to bet on the horse they’re already riding.

I have no doubt the Barefaced is an impressive cab, but everyone has different tonal goals.

My ears really love the combination of the AG700 with the SL series cabs.

In fact I wish they had released an AG350. Make it brown while you’re at it!

This place is about 5 min from where I work. I thought about rooting around in their trash after hours to see what I could find, but it would surely be frowned upon. :laugh::laugh:

Looking at these, I cannot help but be thankful for my Barefaced One 10T.......16 lbs, easily handles 250 watts (one can handle a reasonable drummer/small jam and 2 can easily fill a small bar sans PA) and costs about 50 bucks less, delivered....with a tweeter or even cheaper without. Jus' sayin'.

Admittedly, I haven't had much time to mess around with them, but what stands out most is that while they are adorable, these are not a novelty by any stretch.

They sound much larger and more authoritative than what you would expect from such a small enclosure, very tight sounding, but not boxy.

I played my active F Bass BN5 through them, using an AG700 and it accepted the challenge admirably, never giving the indication that it was too much for them to handle.

That being said, I was using two of them and I had them fairly close to a wall, so I'm sure that was helping amplify the low end.

I'll report back when I've had more time to use one or both in a rehearsal/gigging situation with and without drums. That will be the true indicator of what these diminutive cabs can muster.

But so far so good!

The Barefaced must have a neodymium magnet, no?

These are ceramic, as I've mentioned in my last post.

I'm sure if they would have used a neo driver in these, they'd be lighter but wouldn't be as full bodied.

I would love to add a couple 110's to my TH 350 to make an all Aguilar mini rig but I just cannot justify their pricing anymore. I realize everything is going up in price these days but oof. I'm happy at the moment sticking with 2 Ampeg SVT 210AV's with my TH 350.

Wow that looks killer!

With all of these comments about price, I guess it comes down to the fact I love that exact Aguilar tone/look as well. A little extra money for it will not matter for my specific situation.
Not arguing they’re overpriced, everything is nowadays IMO.

IIRC, a lot of the Class-D SMPS heads on the market use the same power amp..."module"? Not sure the correct term, but I hear a lot of them have similar power amp sections if not identical. The amount of preamps on the market wouldn't make me nervous about that as a market standard.

As far as I know, you can plug into the return of an effects loop and bypass the pre-amp that way. But at that point why spend so much on a head, if you don't use its preamp? Maybe another reason to get an affordable used head and focus money on a great cab.

If you get a chance, could you try just one of the cabs by itself and comment on how that sounds? I'm thinking of picking up a single cab at the moment for use at home. I'm guessing it would be fine for that use, just curious.
