New ampeg speculation - A true B15 Reissue?

I'm thinking the new reissue should be as close as possible to the original. An extension cabinet is also a good idea. I can see a new line of Ampeg bass amps that maintain the look of vintage fliptops but with modern features and power.

they've tried modernizing the portaflex line several times and it always stiffs. seems like the only ones that sell are the b-15n's and to a lesser extent the b-12's.

May have been talked about already ,.. but BPL add shows Daryl Jones as unveiling the NEW B15 next week at Bass Player Live.

Very cool!

Question: assuming Ampeg unveils the B-15 on Oct 23 at BPL, does anyone know when these B-15's would actually become available to the general public? (i.e., when could I have one sitting in my living room?)

How can I tell the year of my B-15?

It says B-15N on the amp and inside the cab it has this serial number on the tag:
409961
The speaker has a square magnet and the cab has the tiltback pole mounted inside.

Any info would be great!

64. back then, the 1st digit was the year. early one too...they dropped the tiltback in 64 (wish they hadn't). does it have a rectifier tube? that sounds more like a b-15nb and not the c that most 64's are.

most b-15's have 6 tubes. three 6sl7's, two 6l6's, and a rectifier tube (early ones use a 5u4gb, the b-15nb had a solid state rec so no 6th tube, and everything else uses a 5ar4). so if you only have 5 tubes, then it's an nb.
