New ampeg speculation - A true B15 Reissue?

You have to match the level of the drummer on stage. You can't ask the drummer to play softer, unless you like wimpy sounding drummers.
i can still get over a loud drummer. if you can't sorry, but i can.

If no one needed a loud bass amp, why do so many people use SVTs? Let's face it, that amp put Ampeg on the map.
ok, pal. calm down. we get it...you don't want a b-15.

Also why do sound men prefer to DI the bass?
i couldn't give a crap what sound men prefer. when the sound man starts drawing people into our shows, then i will give a crap.

geez david, you sound like you're trying to talk yourself out of one.

Oh I wasn't going to buy one anyway. ;) I just made the statement that for the majority of players it's not loud enough. It it were, everyone would use little combo practice amps. Ampeg would be known as "Soft Technologies". ;)

I have my Mesa if I want to use all tubes. It's a shame that the head weighs more than a B-15 though.

But they are cool little amps. Especially the illuminated logo. :D

Since I'm currently in the market for a lower power amp, I'm hooked on this thread and am really looking forward to the "official" announcement at BPL! :hyper: Like I said before, I've never been an Ampeg guy but have always wanted to give a B15 a shot.

The price is definitely going to be key for a LOT of people I think, not just those of us that have mentioned it here. For $1k, I'd probably snap one up and be happier than a fat kid at a cupcake factory. $1500 range and I'd think twice, but it would still be in the "might get one" category if the reissue sounds good enough. (I've got high hopes though, as I've never played any variation of one and don't know the difference. Heck, I didn't even know there were different versions! :o). $2000 and I'm out for sure.

I do the same thing. "If you want to hear me, turn down."

I apologize for this, but I find that stance to be ineffective and in fact unmusical. I feel (IMHO) that one needs to be able to respond to the musical situation as flexibly as one can.

That may well mean dogging the guitarist(s) or drummer to back off, or even more ineffectively "chatting" with the sound tech. Yet, I have the power to be heard if the adult kind of approach you advocate fails.

In any case, being heard as the "bass voice," on stage or in the house, is IMHO my job. I feel I have to provide what is needed, politically, socially, musically, or just plain acoustically. All IMHO.

I share your frustration with those who are not inclined to support the musical goal/result. :D
I guess the relevance of this is it that it may explain my skeptical view of a B-anything RI.

My guess is $1999. The last B15 reissue (not even a true reissue) sold for more than the old ones were going for at the time, and if this one is true to the original specs (point-to-point, quality tubes, etc.) it's going to command top dollar. That said, it'll totally be worth it if it really is a true reissue done right.

Oh dude, if it's point-to-point Ampeg will be charging Mega $$$. But... a hand-made all-tube combo...? Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy... I'll work street corners to get the money for that.

boy spencer, do i hope you're wrong! that kind of price would really hurt.

I hope I'm wrong too, but given the price of the rest of the Heritage lineup, I don't see it being much less than that. I see it this way: There's no way in hell it's going for less than a grand, and much over $2000 would be a pretty hard sell to just about everyone. $1999 seems like the right price point for a top-quality combo like this will hopefully be.

I too have always wanted a B-15 but wasn't willing to pay for what they cost. What would the price competiton be? The Mesa scout is what, like $1200 or $1300? But it's got more juice. $1000 for this one would sure make it an easy buy.

A proper B15 reissue would have way more in parts and labor costs than a scout, and the target market for a B15 has bigger budget.

Well, maybe we can hope that they're going to try for a new target market?

In the end, it's no skin off my teeth if they charge that much. They just won't get my money. I could easily find something else that's less expensive (possibly even significantly less) and still be happy. In fact, I'd probably be happier because then I'd have more money left over for my drug of choice... PEDALS!!!! :D :bassist:

Not just old guys (:D), but studios, collectors and pro players looking for a recording rig - all with deep pockets for that elusive tone.
well i hope it doesn't require deep pockets, but if it does, i will be quite content to stick with my 64 b-15n. but in a world where precision copies can sell for $3500 and fodera can't produce enough $7000+ basses to meet the demand, it's pretty ridiculous to assume that a b-15n reissue won't sell if the price is closer to the $2000 mark. old ones regularly get $1500 or more.
