Rumor has it that the V700 will not be in stock until May 2024.

Yup. I ordered through CME and the site said 15Oct shipment. Then got a "We'll let ya know" email so I cancelled that order since I wasn't charged yet. Every where I've read, it appears to be Spring 2024. I ordered a V3 to get me by and will reassess in Spring if I really need the added comp and wattage!

Just ordered the V12 and one of the 212s. I was more interested in the V7, but oh well. I had been waiting on and just received an SGT-DI yesterday and had no idea the Venture line was even coming out; if everything sounds good, that’ll be going back.

I do have an SVT-CL, so it’ll be nice to compare them and see how close it gets.

2 ohms just gives you so many additional options…I use 2 ohms often on my MESA heads..

The V12 is a huge "swing and a miss" IMHO. Really limits the usefulness of the amp.

I'm no longer into the 410 form factor, the 212 of the Venture line are not a good match for the V12. Cabs like Berg 212's are 4 ohm, two of those would probably sound great, oh wait....

Agreed…2 ohm capability would be nice. Dino mentioned the Venture series as a system in the video; my guess is since all the cabinets are 8 ohm, they’re aiming for a modular Ampeg ecosystem and not so much playing well with others.

I’m coming from a 410 and trying a 212 for the first time with the Venture. Why would it not be a good match with the head though? If the head’s power is going to be more or less halved with an 8 ohm cabinet, wouldn’t a single 212 be okay in this scenario? Or wouldn’t two of the 212s pair well with the V12?

I can definitely see the problem with multiple 4 ohms though.

Wow... since this video claimed 2 ohm operaton as the "elephant in the room", and they are claiming as a statement of fact that these modules (and the amps of the competition that use them) do not really operate at 2 ohms... this is absolutely incorrect. There are several designers using the same modules that have amps with a long, reliable and successful history of guaranteed and safety certified 2 ohm operation. I'm thinking Mesa Subway D-800, D-800+, WD-800, TT-800, Genzler Magellan 800, Aguilar AG700, TH-700 right off the top of my head. To suggest that other designers are disingenuous with their claims of 2 ohm operation is unfortunate and actually rather insulting, though it probably wasn't intended to be.

To be successful designing around 2 ohm operation, the designers need to really understand the technology behind the power supply and power amp. I can back up my approach with a US patent (shared with Jeff and Scott at Genzler) specifically addressing off sheet (4 and 2 ohm) applications of ICEPower modules. This approach was also approved by ICEPower which insured that all warranty coverage would remain in effect throughout the life of the product.

Understanding the technology (class D and switchmode power supply) includes acknowledging the inherent difficulties and complexity in achieving the necessary performance regardless of the rated load impedance, as well as maintaining high reliability under such conditions. Looking back, there examples by several manufacturers where this has not held true.

Euphonic Audio also made Class D amps that were rated for 2 ohms. My iAmp Micro 300 is rated for 325 watts RMS @ 4 ohms and 325 watts RMS @ 2 ohms.

Some of the ICEpower modules they use are rated down to 2.7 ohms, Ampeg probably wouldn't list this. I listed all the specs for the ICEpower modules they used earlier on in the thread.

Personally, a 2 ohm head setting isn't something I care about, though a 4 ohm, 600w minimum speaker offering would be useful, especially in a 210.

My first impressions weren't that great and I wrote a lengthy post of what I didn't like... then I watched all the videos again, just to be sure, and, surprise surprise, I'm actually liking what I hear (Didn't care much for the Yamaha bass guitars though. I don't think they did the amp any justice... oh well). Who knows, maybe there is finally a lightweight class d amp that I could actually enjoy.
It's just a shame it'll take a while for them to hit our shores and some time before I can test run one.

The comments made about using 2 ohms sounds boomy makes no sense to me and that's not my experience at all. Also, they seem to talk all around the question of the amps rating @ 8 ohms. This is very pertinent information when using more than one cabinet. If I were an interested potential customer, their video presentation didn't give me confidence in the amps.

EBS has designed the amp lines for 2 Ohm use since forever, both classic solid state and current class D (Reidmar).

not sure what Dino and Dom were getting at in that video, does not make them appear very knowledgeable product specialists, at least IMHO

I'm just a weekend gigger in a couple of bands that sometimes go into a studio. I don't know much about watts and ohms. I just wanna know that it doesn't weigh a ton, sounds good and won't fritz out in the middle of Mustang Sally.
