I am a huge fan of the Ashdown ABM amps, but never used the compressor or the sub-harmonics built in. From reading the description, this amp sounds like it's just an ABM without those two features on the amp front panel, but built into the circuit to be controlled via footswitch at fixed values. Not really sure this is needed in their product line, but it sure looks cool!

Pics!!
Do you have an ABM to compare it to? I’m wondering if they are the same thing

I don't; the only other Ashdown I have is an older Little Bastard LB-30 all tube.

I am really liking this one. It is loud. Not a bedroom practice amp, that's for sure. The tube preamp is pretty subtle but I haven't turned up the input knob very much yet. EQ options are plenty adequate for me and plenty of connectivity options on the back panel. Speaking of which, the dedicated Taurus input (which is really just a line-level input that can take all kinds of sources) was the selling point for me.

Can I assume that tonal flexibility is this amps strong suit? I currently use a Genz Benz GBE600 and cover everything from Sabbath to the McGarrigle sisters on my EUB. It's still a great head but I'm looking for something a little newer. Can this amp do it?

cheers,

Craig

I'd say so. The three knobs in the middle affect a wide range each, but you can get more granular with the sliders which should be sufficient for the majority of situations. It's not parametric though, so if it turns out there's a specific frequency spot between those you need to adjust that could be problematic, but I would think that would be pretty rare - I've only had that come up in solo settings, never with a full band.

I'm seriously thinking of buying this amp with 2 x
CL-310-DH
I've been using an Eden 410xlt with a WT800 for 25 years. I'm hoping this is a step up or at least a step sideways. Is anyone using this rig? Has anyone got a review? Interesting speaker configuration!
