Well it took me a while to find a sound I liked out of it that wasn't all duck quacky, but I like what I'm getting with that setting.

New bands, new pedals

Me neither. I'm actually cheat slapping with my fingers in most of it.
Ya, still running them. Might turn off the HPF for some of the newer stuff, but then again I may not. I almost certainly won't be turning off the LPF.
Do you mean digging in like Stanley Clarke or something? If that's what you're talking about I do that on the Bruno song "treasure". There's no way I can switch that quick between smooth finger style and popping that quick!
Just got asked to do a hard rock bar gig the night before my second wedding band gig. Oh, the joys of loading an SVT out of the van at 4 in the morning, but if anyone thinks I'm not busting it out for that one, you would be thinking wrong 
Always loved playing hard rock, but hated the low money and the bars and moved onto other types of music that will actually pay and keep me out of bars for the most part. But every now and then I get a call for one of these gigs and I always do it because it's fun to relive my horribly misspent youth. Will have to put the MXR Bass Distortion back on for that one, but I'll just take the BSW off and put the Bass D in its place. Will keep the chorus on there, too, just in case they bust out some 80's stuff, which is highly likely.

OK, so I tried the Kokko comp tonight finally, and liked it at first, but ended up hating it when I was jamming to tunes. Even on its mildest settings, it just cuts too much dynamic range when trying to play quietly. Then I tried the LMB-3, and it's faring much better. It clamps down on the peaks a bit and leaves the quiet notes more quiet than the Kokko. I think it hits them a little bit, but since it's technically a limiter, it's not all invasive. I'd have to do some board Tetris so I don't know if I like the compression enough to put myself through it, but even though I'm pretty even as it is, it doesn't hurt to have an insurance policy. I don't know...it'll probably be fine either way. I should just go to bed.
Another one here in the camp of playing that tune on a 4-string with an octaver and clean blend. I can't slap nor play a 5-string, so I had to make it my own if it was going to be in the list. I have that luxury in my group, though.
It doesn't help your space issue, but after 10+ years without a compressor myself, I swear by the Keeley Bassist as a limiter these days. Really great for taming peaks (like the filter on Can't Stop the Feeling) while keeping tone and dynamics in place.

Well to be honest, now that I'm back in shape on the 5, I'm actually enjoying it again, so it's not as big an imposition as it was at first.

Yeah, worried after I posted I was being 'that' person. I've used the LMB-3 in the past and gave up on compressors for a while as a result of it (and a couple others) not doing what you described, which is the same thing I was after. Fast forward and I tried the Keeley Bassist and it did do everything I couldn't get out of the LMB-3, which is a great pedal, just not designed to do what I want the way I want it. Since you aren't afraid of buying pedals from time to time, just thought I'd add that for consideration before you give up on compressors for another 10yrs.
OK, I went and added the LMB-3, and believe it or not, I was able to fit it in the front row without removing anything else!
So first gig with the Buzzcatz was last night, and I'm going to bag the LMB3. It's a good little pedal, but I always preferred not having it on over having it on. And we didn't do the envelope filter song, so it sat there. But the gig went really well otherwise. No rehearsal and 4 people out of the 10 in the band were subs, and we nailed it. Didn't get to use the upright on the jazz set due to lack of room, but I could stand some more practice on it and the BL was quite happy with my playing on electric, so that actually worked out.
A Saturnworks active summing pedal with no knobs. It's for bouncing separate electric and upright signals down to one line.
Had another gig Saturday night with this band, and decided to scale my board way down so I could fit it under the old school jazz style music stands with the band logo on them that they use to give the stage a vibe. Ended up removing the LMB-3, the OC-2, the 6-Band EQ for the upright, and tuner pedal (used a clip-on instead), and dug out one of my old boards, or as most of you would call it, a piece of plywood spray painted black, and it just fit inside the stand. Haven't done that Justin Timberlake tune yet, so the BSW just sat there all night, but one day it'll get a chance.
