New Bass. (16 Pics)

Hi.

I've been playing the bass (at church) for 2 years now. I used a cheapo P bass lying at the church, and I was pretty happy with it. Could've got a cheapo bass for myself I guess, but I wanted to save for something better. Unfortunately, I'm 18; in college, so that took a while.

Finally, after months of waiting, I got my very first bass yesterday, from MF. A Fender (MIM) '57 RI P Bass in 2-tone sunburst. This thing is beautiful, and sounds terrific! Came in tune, and with a pretty good setup. Only thing I dislike about the bass is the fact you need to unbolt the neck to adjust the truss rod. Apart from that, this bass is perfect.

Do you guys name your basses? If so, got any suggestions for this one? I'm pretty much stuck.

And finally, pics!

I have the American Reissue version of the '57. I've never played a better P bass. Put some flats on that thing and you'll be in old-school tone heaven!

Yep, I've got a set of Chromes; will put 'em on tomorrow!

Maybe taking the pickguard off would do the job, rather than dissassembling the whole thing?
If you truly HAVE to unbolt the neck for a truss rod adjust ment, that is a very unsmart design...

I'm not really sure about this, I'll have to check…no urgent need though; like I said, it came pretty well-setup.

You should have a cut-out under the pickguard that allows access to the truss rod. I can't imagine Fender putting a heel-adjusted neck on a body that didn't allow access to it. You may just need to cut the pickguard to fit the cut-out. Hopefully.

EDIT: oops. just noticed manutabora said something similar.
