In December, I purchased a new Gothic bass from an unknown Japanese luthier.

I have since added a 5 string tenor (E-A-D-G-C) by the same luthier:

I also added the short scale Fender Urge - Stu Hamm signature (with round wound strings), and the Fender USA P-Bass.

Someone was trying to id the maker of a bass with that headstock symbol a couple of weeks ago - that wasn't you, was it? I don't think the pictures matched either of those basses.

Those are beautiful! The neck-through with flame maple is especially cool. Did you buy them directly from the luthier or is there a dealer?

Well, please, find out who said mystery luthier is, that's nice stuff!

I purchased both basses from the same dealer. The dealer didn't know anything about the luthier as he came across them from someones personal collection.

I posted about the bass earlier (December?) trying to find out if anyone knew anything about them and didn't find anything out. I picked up the other bass so there wouldn't be anyone around with the same maker... lol.

2 of a kind!

 My crazy memory again - I remember the earlier thread, could have sworn those pics were a different bass (thought it was lighter in color than these).

What's the deal with the single pickup jazz bass thingie?

I talk about it in this thread: My Fake Fender Jazz Bass | TalkBass.com

Short of it is that my Dad wasn't a rich guy, had it made when he was in the Philippines in 1970's. It plays and sounds incredible, and will always be in the family. I inherited it after he died.

I thought it might be some cool rare Fender model I never heard of and before reading your thread I saw the "Fake Fender Jazz Bass" title and I must admit I had preconceived notions as I don't care for fakes in general...but after reading your thread I realized it's probably the coolest bass of all time!
