It has been a while since my last post. I have been very busy with my day job, taking care of a massive project.
Anyway, did something yesterday and today. Not much but something is better than nothing.
I decided to cover the back back of the headstock with blackwood, same as the core body wood, so it is matching the body when viewed from the back side.
The frets and the MOP dots inlay are in.
Started the control cavity routing, but haven't finished it yet, possibly tomorrow.
Overall look from the back side with matching headstock back.

It has been a while since my last post. I have been very busy with my day job, taking care of a massive project.

Man that top looks killer! Excellent work! I like how you arranged the fret markers after the 12th fret, very cool.
Thank you. I arranged it that way with assumption that after the 12th fret, people tend to play with the bottom register of the neck...

It has been a while since my last update. I'm still quite busy with my day job...
I managed to do a little more work to the bass.
Routed the control cavity. It has got some little holes from the forstner bits when roughing it out. Other than that, it is looking pretty good.
I also managed to level the frets, dress them, and sprayed 3 coats of satin poly with 120 grit wet sanding between coats. Here is the neck before polishing.
The neck has already been very smooth, even without any polishing.
I hope you guys all enjoy it as much as I do.

That looks awesome. I can't wait to see the body with some finish on it. I think this build is the one that is going to push me to start putting together the tools to start my own.

I had been contemplating on removing the back headstock cover (the blackwood cover), and on the weekend I decided to do it.
I think the neck look better without the blackwood back headstock cover.
I have finished the neck and did the polishing on the weekend. I have also started the finishing process on the body.
I'll post the updates very soon.

Long overdue updates...
I'm applying the clear satin finish to the neck and body.
I have completed the neck but still going for the body.
The pickup covers has not been sprayed at all, because the pickup set is still on its way. Just in case I need to adjust the cap thickness, it is easier to do without the finish.
Some pictures:
It is better under the natural light. However, I took this one before I installed the bridge.
The finish really enhances the wood figure and its natural colour.
The next post will be the finished product.

That's a really nice looking bass. I had my doubts about the headstock shape but it looks really well rounded and a great overall package. Well done. Great to see some Aussies mixing it up here.
