Oh my. Things just got very interesting over there.

A 5er with a J at the bridge with standard colors (I just used the builder to price) is just UNDER $1000.

    Oy. Very interesting indeed.

  4. Very cool. I like what they did with the pickguard.

I'm going to try to hold out until they offer it with an asymmetrical neck profile and a MM style at the bridge. Oh yeah. (I may call and see if they will do it anyway.)

these are pretty cool. just used the builder for a matching 4/5 p/j set. one thing i noticed for the builder on the 4 is it has the inline headstock standard and is a $20 upcharge for the SB headstock. must be a mistake or something.

Nice! I've been waiting literally years for Carvin to come out with a P. Now I've just got to get the funds together.

For those of you thinking "whatever", let me assure you that the build quality of their stuff is superb. This may put a dent in the P bass market once word gets out. Maybe not a huge dent, but a dent none the less.

After pricing one and finding it is the same cost as my SB5000 (that will be here next week), I'm not quite so flipped out.

Also, I think I like the body shape of the SB5000 better. I suspect I'd prefer the tone of the P5 however.

Yea, well, you see, the SB5000 that is about to be delivered is a rebuild resulting from a 10 day trial 6 weeks ago. The one I got at that time was too heavy. Carvin built another one with a "promise" it will be lighter (< 10 lbs). The lighter one is about to be here.

    ... but I really wanted a PJ ... :bawl: :crying: ;)
