Carvin always does something a little weird. Here, they look to be using the same pickup on both the 4 and 5 string. I wonder which half covers the A string on the fiver?

ah. (I may call and see if they will do it anyway.)[/QUOTE]I'm going to try to hold out until they offer it with an asymmetrical neck profile and a MM style at the bridge. Oh yeah. (I may call and see if they will do it anyway.)
I've been babying a product suggestion thread on the Carvin Forums for a couple of years on this. Along the way, I had a photoshop wizard over there do some mock ups. I figured, hey, if THEY get GAS, it just might happen. Not saying it was me or the thread, but it had to have helped a LITTLE bit. RIGHT? I held out for a reverse P but we don't have that (yet).
Here are the mock ups from the thread. My fav color currently is their discontinued electric blue metallic. Below is what they've been seeing and responding to on the Forums.

Opt. 50 shell pink w/ pearl blocks, here I come
The single alnico magnet means that you won't get any signal drop off like you do from a conventional P-type pickup if the strings are not perfectly centered between the pole pieces.
When they offer the MM pup in the bridge position, then I
will have one on order.
One thing though: they don't offer chambering! Once that option is offered, I'll be in serious danger of ordering another bass I can't afford.
I can finally have a affordable P5 in a lefty!!! I've been waiting for this for a long time.
Hmm...

Tough call.
same here. dont really want to spend uber bucks for a lakland, lull, sadowsky. priced out a pj5 for $1100. pretty killer price for a custom spec'd bass.

FWIW, My little B50 has knocked a Sadowsky Metro and 3-4 Lakland Skylines out of my arsenal...
They aren't offering the P-pickup on any other models. Already asked and answered on the Carvin boards.
